TGIF my amazing blogger fam!! Who’s ready for the weekend?? I hope you are all doing well and staying safe. If you haven’t heard Ontario declared a state of emergency last week due to the pandemic and we just got news today that they are extending it and putting even stricter measures in place so if you could all say some prayers it would be greatly appreciated. Thankfully I now have my first vaccine appointment scheduled for April 28th!

I hope you guys have been following this year’s edition of #30DaysofDresses over on Instagram & Facebook. Today’s post is in partnership with my friends at Lane Bryant. It wouldn’t be a dress feature without some from Lane Bryant, they have been one of my top go to brands for dresses for over twenty years. While this is a sponsored post all opinions are my own as always.

This is also my first blog post where I will discuss the new extended size range that Lane Bryant has to offer – that’s right if you haven’t heard yet they now carry sizes 10 to 40! I was so excited when they made this announcement because I love to see brands make strides to be more inclusive and I know that my extended size gals definitely need and deserve more options.

To keep you in the loop they are still in the process of rolling out the new sizes in all their product offerings but they started with LIVI active, tops & dresses. And the options available have continually grown since I first noticed them on the site earlier this year.

They are also still perfecting their fit as making such a change in their size range takes time and I love that they are committed to getting the fit right. They are using a size 34/36 fit model (yeah Kelly!) too which is huge. So if you notice any fit issues or have feedback as you try the new size range please share with them! They need the feedback to make it even better. And if you don’t feel comfortable doing it you can always share with me and I will make sure I share it with the team.

I do know that some of you were looking for bottoms and jeans and while they have a few options right now the rest will be coming. Bottoms are the most difficult thing to get the fit right for, especially in extended sizes so it definitely takes more time to roll out. But I will let you know as soon as they are available, I promise!

For me personally this size expansion by Lane Bryant has been a dream come true. I have always had a challenge fitting into certain Lane Bryant pieces, particularly pants or more structured tops in a size 28 because of my hips and shape. So I was always really careful to only select styles and fabrics that I knew would work. But often there were styles that I loved that I knew just wouldn’t fit. So I felt like I was missing out on the full experience.

Being able to experiment with the new size range has given me the freedom to try whatever I want and size up if I need to. I don’t know if I can quite articulate what that feels like. As someone who is typically at the top of most brand’s size ranges it can be disappointing when you hear smaller size people say oh this runs small you should size up. I am like well that sucks because I can’t. It’s just another way to feel left out. So thank you Lane Bryant for changing this. 🥰

So let’s talk about spring dresses. There are so many fun trends right now to try that I think there is a little something for everyone. From your go to florals to stripes to geometric, patterns are front and centre. And let’s not forget about the hottest print trend for the last year – tie dye! I am also seeing a lot of greens, blues, yellows and lilacs right now which I love. In terms of style, off the shoulder, multi way and flutter or puff sleeves are popular. And then there are great textures like eyelet and lace.

I chose two looks to feature – one you will see here and the other you will have to check out over on IG tomorrow. Trust me you don’t want to miss it 😉. Given the current environment we are living in I chose dresses that fall under one of my favourite categories – comfy but cute! And let me tell you that this chevron striped maxi fits the bill. I will even go so far as to say that it’s just as comfy as pajamas!

I love the contrast of the coral and beige with the flutter sleeve, v-neck and band detail at the waist. And if you’re not a colour person then this also comes in black & beige. And it comes in petites!! I know from my Mom that it’s hard to find maxi dresses in petite lengths and Lane Bryant has a lot to choose from. I am wearing the size 30/32 and it is a generous fit, I could have sized down.

So an outfit from Lane Bryant wouldn’t be complete without a pair of their amazing shoes and some accessories. I am beyond obsessed with these flatform sandals. I got them in black for my post in February and when they released new colours I just had to have them. This soft blush will work great as a neutral all summer long. I wear a size 9 in Lane Bryant shoes. These ones fit really well and the front strap doesn’t dig in to my toes.

I wanted to keep this whole look monochromatic so I chose these soft pink petal earrings for a touch of whimsy and then this super cute charm bracelet from their Earth Day collection. I love when pieces represent a cause like this. And Lane Bryant also has a great selection of sunnies right now. Isn’t the tropical print detail on these ones the prettiest detail? A simple satchel was the final piece to this outfit.
So tell me…what spring dress trends are you loving right now? Have you tried Lane Bryant‘s new extended sizing? If so what did you think?
