Happy Tuesday my amazing blog fam, I hope you are all doing well and staying safe! Can you believe it’s the end of March and Easter is this weekend? I feel like time is flying by again lol (I think I said that last month lol)
Today’s post is in partnership with my friends at Woman Within! This month they asked me to choose some of my favourite new arrivals to feature. As always, all opinions expressed in this post are my own.
Once I started scrolling through the new arrivals I was immediately drawn to all the new prints and vibrant colours. I also love the look and feel of crisp neutrals like black and white. There was so much to choose from it was hard to narrow it down to these two outfits!
As you know Woman Within is all about offering quality basics for your wardrobe that are functional and cute but most importantly comfortable. These are the type of pieces that you will grab out of your closet time and time again. And with a size range from 12 to 44 they truly cater to all plus size women and especially those that are size 30 and up.
And for all my Canadian and international babes I checked out the website and international shipping is now available again so yeah! Many of you have messaged me to let me know that shipping both internationally and within the US is expensive with Woman Within.
I want you to know that I hear you and I have shared your concerns with them. But I encourage you to contact them directly to share your concerns. Hearing it directly from customers gives our concerns more attention. In the meantime I will continue to fight the good fight for all of you.
What I will say is that the sales Woman Within offers continue to be amazing and for me personally sometimes that offsets the cost of shipping.
For my first outfit I finally decided to give the Button Front Essential dress a try. I will admit when you look at it on the website it’s nothing special and dare I say a little matronly. But at the same time I know it is a best seller with the Woman Within customer so that intrigued me.
It’s really hard to find pieces that are made of cotton and I was really impressed with the cotton/poly blend of this dress. It has a nice weight and washes well. And more importantly for me I can breathe in it. Because unfortunately I am pretty sure I am pre menopausal now and I already ran hot so let’s say that should be fun! I am wearing the 34/36 because I needed the room in the bust, especially since it has buttons. This dress is available up to size 44.
And true to what you have come to know and love from Woman Within, it also is available in over 20 colours and prints. I love that I can not only wear it as a dress but I can also comfortably wear it lounging around the house, as a swim cover up or as a duster with leggings and a tank. I chose this black & white floral print because I love a crisp black & white print and the flower had a tropical feel to it.
I decided to pair the dress with this denim jacket that is perfect for layering until the weather gets a little warmer or on cool nights. I opted for this on trend sage green colour as it was a sharp contrast to the black & white print and gives it an earthy feel. The slight a-line shape and pleating on this jacket are a perfect silhouette for my pear shape.
For my second outfit I really loved this blue ditsy floral print skirt that is so lightweight (it will be amazing in the summer heat) but I couldn’t really find a shirt that excited me to go with it and I didn’t want to just wear a t-shirt which would look super cute BTW. I am wearing the 34 but I should have sized down to the 32.
So I decided to try a traditional button down shirt even though I generally despise them lol. You see I absolutely love them when I see them on other people, especially when they have them tied at the waist like I do here. But they just never seem to fit me properly with buttons gaping at my chest and the hips being too tight but the shoulders too big.
So what I did was I bought it very oversized at a 38/40 because I knew I was planning to style it this way. I rolled up the sleeves and the larger size gave me extra room to tie it. I got the oversized look I was going for combined with the comfort of not having to worry about my normal button down woes. And yes I chose to show some tummy because I wanted to. But you could also wear the skirt higher on your waist if you aren’t comfortable with that.
For both these outfits I chose this cute but functional white flats. I love the cut out detail and the bow accent along with the sturdy rubber sole. They are the perfect combination of function and style. I kept my accessories pretty simple with classic tonal bags and my Mom’s elephant earrings for the first look & a pop of orange in these statement earrings for the blue.
So tell me, how did I do? What look is your favourite? Leave me a comment, I’d love to hear from you!
