Happy last day of June blogger fam, how is your week so far? Can you believe it’s already the end of June? I feel like this month has flown by! Maybe it’s because I was able to get my hair done, nails put back on and waxing. Boy was it an exciting week!
I have been enjoying the beautiful weather we have been having and looking forward to what is supposed to be an amazing week filled with sunshine and heat. So as we say goodbye to June it’s the perfect time for my final post in my tropical print series sponsored by Catherines. While this post is sponsored, all opinions are my own, as always.
For this post I wanted to talk about wearing dresses as a casual look. So many of you comment on my posts saying you haven’t worn a dress in years. And like I tell everyone when it comes to wearing a swimsuit, don’t be afraid just wear the dress! None of us are ever going to have a perfect body and that’s okay because we all still deserve to feel great, look great and wear clothes we love.
And the great thing about Catherines is that they create amazing styles that are made just for bodies like ours. If you do have an insecurity about your arms or your legs or your tummy there are options to help make you feel more confident. And if you are petite they have you covered too, it’s one of the few places you can find maxi dresses in petite. At 5’1, my Mom loves them.
So does wearing a dress mean you can’t be casual? I say absolutely not! I think some people automatically associate a dress with being fancy and it doesn’t have to be, it’s all in way you style it.
I also believe that it is a matter of personal preference and comfort. I would much rather wear a dress then pants or shorts because I don’t like when my shorts ride up or my waist band digs in. And chafing shorts are my saving grace.
This Malibu Tie Waist A-line dress is in my opinion the perfect casual summer dress. It has short sleeves so you don’t have to worry about covering your arms or wearing an over piece. Although a denim jacket would look really cute with it, especially for a cooler evening.
It hits you right below the knee, and has a great tie detail at the waist that you can use to accentuate your waist or camouflage any yummy concerns you have. I love that it is only a half belt so it gives you a nice clean line in the back.
The other thing I love about Catherines dresses is the fabrics they use. This one is a super soft and smooth jersey with just the right amount of stretch. It’s breathable and doesn’t cling which is perfect for warm weather. And can we talk about this print? Pink is having a major moment right now and I loved that it isn’t a colour you would typically associate with a tropical print. The colour is much more vibrant in person compared to the pictures on the website so just keep that in mind.

Now I have to say I couldn’t contain my excitement when I saw this bracelet on the Catherines website. I mean isn’t so darn cute? It’s like all my favourite beach things in one. I then added these simple silver tassel earrings. If you want to try a statement earring these are a great lightweight option. To complete the look I added my ivory macrame bag.

This dress is great for running errands, taking a day trip, lunch with the girls or a casual night out with your significant other. So now that this series is officially coming to an end, tell me how you are feeling about tropical prints and which Catherines look is your fave by leaving a comment below.
