Happy Saturday my amazing blogger family, how the heck is everyone doing? I hope you are all doing well and staying safe. I can’t believe it’s been a few months since I posted but life has certainly been interesting with Covid. I have been in self quarantine since the middle of March. Mom and I have just been trying to make the most of it.
But with today being the official start of summer and summer solstice, it’s the perfect day to share a new post sponsored by Catherines. I think you all know by now how much I love a good print and how much I love to travel so seeing tropical prints show up as a must have for summer is a perfect fit for me. They are colourful and bold, which are two of my favourite things. They also remind me of some of my great adventures. So since I can’t travel this year it’s a great way to reflect and be grateful for the memories I have created, the people that shared them with me and hope for creating new memories.
For this first post, I decided to go completely bold with this botanical blend A-line dress. The print on this dress reminds me of my trip through the rain forest in Puerto Rico with the lush foliage and vibrant flowers. Everywhere you looked was a visual masterpiece.
This dress is perfect for the hottest days of summer as it is made of a light as air mesh fabric with a soft slip lining underneath. It honestly feels like you are wearing almost nothing. Almost of course lol!
I love an easy silhouette for hot days and this A-line cut is perfect as it skims over your curves beautifully, has a little bit of movement and a cute cut out detail at the neckline. And I love the tank style straps, you can easily wear a bra and not worry about your straps showing. I am wearing the 4x which is my typical Catherines size.
I think this print is the perfect combination of neutrals with its black base and tan and green leaves with small pops of bright colours. If you are not a big fan of prints I think this is a great way to try this trend. You can always keep to neutral accessories to make it less overwhelming if you are trying to step out of your comfort zone.
I know not everyone loves to show their arms or sometimes it gets cooler at night so adding a light layer is the perfect addition to this look. And Catherines has the best layering pieces in an amazing selection of colours and styles. This Shadow Stripe cardigan is one of my faves because of its versatility. It’s also light and airy with a textured stripe. It has 3/4 length sleeves with a unique cut out detail that adds some visual interest and it has side slits which are a must have in my opinion. It is currently available in 9 colours and also comes in petites. I am wearing the 4x. I love this vibrant coral colour against the neutrals in the print of the dress.
I love that Catherines makes it easy for me to accessorize any look by offering wide width shoes and plus friendly accessories. I did something unusual for me with this look and went for a tan sandal. It’s a great basic to have in your wardrobe and can be worn with anything. These have great support and the elastic straps are very stretchy. I then added these cute dragonfly earrings and a mixed metallic bracelet. A straw bag is the perfect finishing touch. I loved the pop of blue but a classic tan or tan with black accents would also look great.
