Happy Sunday everyone, how is your weekend going? Did you do anything exciting? Mom and I got our hair done yesterday and my blonde bombshell status is looking fierce once again thanks to my girl Patricia.
Today’s post is in partnership with my friends at Woman Within. I took a little break with my WW posts due to the crappy weather but we are back and I have 2 special posts this month. And well this post is sponsored, all opinions are my own, always.
With March break and spring right around the corner I know that a lot of you will be jetting off to warm locations for vacation and fun in the sun and I wanted to give you some great looks that are perfect to travel in. And yes I will be completely jealous of all of you while I am stuck working long hours. Think of me and have a daiquiri will you?
Originally when I chose these looks I was just going to talk about athleisure options which Woman Within has so many amazing options for you to choose from. But my photographer Kate casually said to me while we were shooting that they would be perfect for travelling, especially for longer flights and so here we are.
You know I love me some versatile pieces so I decided we would talk a little bit about that. And it’s not like these aren’t also equally perfect for running errands, going to soccer practice with the kids or a family fun activity. And lounging around the house too lol.
A lot of you ask me about traveling and in particular flying as a fat person and I can’t tell you strongly enough that you need to get over the fear and get out there. The world is your oyster and please don’t miss out on amazing opportunities because of it.
As a fat person we live with the notion that we need to shrink and take up less space, that we are inherently taking up more than we deserve. But who decides that? Oh that’s right, thin people. And that is based on archaic viewpoints and ignores the fact that times have changed and that more than 67% of women are size 14 and up.
And let’s be honest, airlines are trying to make money so they logically try to put as many people on a flight as they can. So just like the seats aren’t wide enough for us there are also many people who are tall that have no leg room which is equally uncomfortable. My advice to you is to claim your space and don’t let others intimidate you. I am going to do an IGTV video with more tips soon but this a good start.
One of the other things I do and the reason for this post is to chose an outfit that allows me to travel in comfort but still look cute. And this is for either a flight or a long car ride. Sault Ste Marie is an eight hour drive and while I haven’t done the trip in a few years, it is a long one and comfort is key.
This first look is a little bit different because I chose a skirt. I know some of you might be thinking Lisa why on earth would you pick a skirt to travel in. But honestly a comfortable skirt or dress I find much easier to travel in then pants. I wear an ant chafing short underneath and I am good to go. For me personally it is a much cooler option.
This skirt is from their sport weight collection and it is made of a breathable lightweight knit jersey. It had two side slits to allow for movement. The waist is elastic and has a drawstring to give it that athleisure vibe. And it also has pockets! I am wearing the size 30/32 and I am honestly obsessed with it. It comes in petite and regular lengths and 10 different colour options.
I love a bold colour so I decided to pair the skirt with this neon green trapeze style tunic. I don’t wear long sleeves often but this shirt is super lightweight and I love the fabric. It has a crossover v-neck line and side inset panels that are perfect for giving the shirt more shape and for accommodating my hips. The 30 inch length is perfect for those of you looking for something longer and you can easily wear it with leggings too. I am also wearing the size 30/32 here.
This second outfit is the epitome of classic comfort and style and is great for traveling in all seasons especially if you are flying in and out of cold and warm climates. This fleece set is incredibly soft and cozy and I particularly love that it comes as a coordinating set. The price point at $54.99 for the set regular price is a steal and with all the amazing sales Woman Within has I was able to score it for 50% off. For the quality you can’t go wrong.
I love the Capri length on the pants and I also love that the jacket is collarless. Now I am all for a cute hoodie but sometimes when you are sitting in an airplane or in the car they can get all bunched up at the neck and I find that uncomfortable. Sometimes simple and clean lines are best. I am also wearing the size 30/32 in this and it’s very roomy.
I paired the set with a long sleeve v-neck t-shirt in a cute flower print to give the look a pop of colour and print. I was a little disappointed with the sizing on this as I thought the size 30/32 was quite small which usually isn’t an issue with me in Woman Within tops. Sometimes depending on the fabric and print they may have less stretch which is what I think happened here.
When I travel, accessories are kept to a minimum so sometimes I will wear a fun earring like I did with the first look and sometimes I will wear nothing. For both looks I made sure I picked comfortable and practical sneakers by Comfortview from Woman Within. I love their selection of wide width sneakers that come in fun prints and colours like these. They are a great way to jazz up your travel outfit and inject your personality. And the one accessory I don’t travel without now is one of my favourite tote bags. I have it in several colours and it is the perfect size for taking on flights and trekking through the airport.
So who’s ready to get traveling in style? Which look would you choose and why? Leave me a comment below.
