Happy hump day my amazing blogger family, how is your week going? I hope you are enjoying the short week, I can’t believe tomorrow is Thursday already. My lipedema has been acting up and I was in a lot of pain yesterday so unfortunately I was at home but man oh man my to do list is getting bigger by the second. Do you ever wish you could turn back the clock? I definitely wish I could clone myself.
Well I am back today with another post in my kick off the new year series, sponsored by my friends at Catherines. As you know, this is one of my favourite times of year to shop. Most brands are done with their winter clear out sales and all the pretty things for spring start to come out. And since Spring is my favourite season I start to stock up on all things for the warmer weather ahead. While this post is sponsored, all opinions are my own, as always!
The first look in this series was pretty versatile, you could easily wear it to the office or dress it down for a casual weekend vibe. But this next look is totally all business. This would be a look I would pull out of the closet for an important client meeting or presentation or if I just wanted to feel like a total boss babe.
If I want a really special look, I almost always go to the “Black Label” collection at Black Label Collection offers perfectly polished designs that are truly effortless and beautiful. The Black Label Collection offers perfectly polished designs that are truly effortless and beautiful. It is made up of little mini collections of pieces that coordinate and therefore are easy to mix and match. They offer nicer fabrics, unique colours and prints and tend to be on the dressier side.
When I saw this mini collection I was immediately drawn to the rich teal colour. There is also pants and a mixed print shell in this collection. And the best news is that these pieces are still fully in stock in all sizes but they are on clearance which you can now get an extra 50% off on. This is such a total deal that I think I might have to grab the pants too.
I have to say that I think I pretty much live in ponte fabric these days and I don’t know what I did without it. This set is made of a nice thick weight ponte with a super soft finish and touch. It has great stretch and the fit is amazing. It feels super luxe and fancy but comfortable.
This jacket is a sophisticated piece with its vegan leather trim and details and the single hook and eye closure. Its a longer length which also adds to its sophistication and gives it that car coat feel, particularly over the dress. I am wearing the 5x and the fit was really generous. I intentionally sized up in this jacket because I wanted a perfect fit and since the length is long and the cut is straight I knew I would need it to accommodate my hips and thighs. Given that the fabric is really stretchy I probably could have stuck with my normal Catherines size.
I was also super happy that the sleeves weren’t too long which can be a common problem for me. I do wish there was a back vent but that is a minor improvement. I guess it is a trade off for having side split hems. And did you notice the pockets?
The seaming on the back of the jacket is a great design feature because it draws the eye in and helps to create the illusion of an hourglass shape. If you wanted to dress this jacket down it would look great with a skinny pair of jeans or leggings and a fun tunic underneath. It will also easily transition to an outerwear piece as the weather gets warmer.
Catherines has done a fantastic job at mastering the fit of the sheath style dress for plus size women. It is a style that can be difficult to find a good fit for, particularly when you are pear shaped like me. But time and time again when I get one from Catherines the fit is always perfect. I am wearing the 4x here.
The vegan leather detail at the neckline ties in perfectly with the jacket and the knot detail is a fun touch. I love the shape I get from this dress, it hugs my curves in all the right places but is still professional. This would be a great dress to wear for drinks after work. Add a statement earring, some sexy heels and a clutch and you would instantly be ready for a night out. This dress is a mid calf length on me at 5’6 so if you are petite I think you could still easily pull it off. And it wouldn’t be hard to hem.
There are so many different options to style this look, simple black or nude will look great as would a pop of black and white print. I decided to bring a bit of my flare for colour and print to this look but choosing these floral print sandals from my personal collection and then play off of the burgundy and rust tones in the pattern. I like to remind you that we all have amazing pieces in our closet, we just have to remember to actually pull them out every once in a while. These shoes are a prime example. I love my oldie but goodie pieces.
This bag is also from my personal collection and I love how the rich burgundy colour and patent contrasted with the teal and leather accents. Its a great classic style that compliments the overall boss babe vibe I was going for. A fun pair of multi-coloured marbled earrings and a jewel tone/silver bracelet from Catherines completed the look. And you know I love a good bun moment!
So I am curious, do you see yourself wearing a look like this? If so, wear would you wear it? And finally, what kind of outfit makes you feel like a boss babe? Leave me a comment, I want all the deets!
