Happy Tuesday blogger family, how is your week going so far? This week is professional development week for me so I get to sit in the classroom and catch up on all the latest changes and updates in accounting. Sounds exciting right? ๐
So I meant to post this last week and of course time got away from me. But today I will share the second look that I got from the ASOS x Christian Cowan collaboration. This one is a totally different vibe and I love it.
I mentioned in my previous post that while the collection has over 50 pieces in total, only 9 came in plus sizes. It was pretty disappointing to see because it is just a reminder that while progress is being made there is still so much more work to be done.
The collection features a lot of sexy bodycon and two piece sets in addition to the suit. And there is also some sporty athleisure pieces which are part of Christian’s design aesthetic. And several of them are unisex so that was cool to see.
With lilac being a prominent colour in the collection I was in heaven when I saw this sweatshirt dress. I am not really a sweatshirt person but if I am going to wear one then this would be the way to go.
This was a piece that I was nervous about ordering because I wasn’t sure how the length was going to be and if I would be able to achieve that oversized fit. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it on and the length was longer than I expected and it was certainly a generous fit. I am wearing the US size 26.
The material is thick and high quality and super soft to the touch. All things I want to see in a sweatshirt. The logo in silver is a classic touch and reminds me of all the sports branded items from Nike, Adidas etc that I had wished came in my size in high school.
And the row of reflective silver detail in the back just gives it more of that athletic vibe. The neck is nice and roomy so you don’t feel claustrophobic and I love a good hoodie moment.
Now while I am totally comfortable rocking this as a dress I am probably more likely to wear it with leggings when I want to be comfy and cute. It would be perfect on a cold day.
To style this cute casual look I chose my silver sneakers from Woman Within, my neon bag from Aldo and these lime green chain earrings that are also from the collection. The earrings are super cute and add a pop of colour to the look. Sneakers are easy and comfortable while being trendy and the silver plays off the details of the sweatshirt. And well you know I love a cute bag.
Overall I am glad that I ventured outside of my comfort zone and gave this collection a try. We need more and different voices in plus size fashion that push the boundaries of what is currently available. We want to be and should be included. Next time, I want to see all pieces available in plus sizes for true inclusiveness.
What do you think? Would you give this collection a try? What designers do you wish made plus sizes? Leave me a comment below.
