Happy Sunday my amazing blogger fam, how the heck are you? I hope you are doing well! I can’t believe we are heading into the last week of October! I had big plans this month and then I got sidelined with my injury and bronchitis and I have to be honest and say it’s been a rough six weeks. Here’s hoping I can end the year feeling great!
Unfortunately due to my illness I couldn’t write my monthly post for Woman Within but I wanted to make sure we got one in for October since I had some really cute looks planned. This post is sponsored but all opinions are my own, as always, xoxo.
For this post I decided to explore what Woman Within offers for denim. In all the time that I have been wearing Woman Within I have never tried their denim. But it is actually one of their largest product offerings. I loved my denim jacket from my last post so I had high hopes. But you all know my struggles with fit on jeans, I honestly was not looking forward to the try on part.
Woman Within offers every style of jeans you can imagine from skinnies to girlfriend to wide leg as well as shorts, skirts and capris. They also have several different fits designed to tackle the different “challenge” areas we may have when it comes to fit whether it’s your tummy or a waist gap or thick thighs. They even offer petite and tall lengths.
And the best part is they offer all of this at an affordable price point. Their most expensive regular price for a pair of jeans is only $54.99. When you compare this to many other brands where the average price is close to $100 you can see the value. And of course Woman Within always has amazing sales so I never end up paying full price.
It was to narrow down my choices for what styles I was going to try but I knew I had to try their “Curvy” fit because that is the style brands make for my body type. So having tried a lot of different brands and styles for my shape I wanted to see how they stacked up.
This first look features the “Perfect Curvy Jegging” in a classic dark wash which is my go to wash. It’s clean and simple and goes with everything. I am wearing the size 34 which is what I typically wear in Woman Within bottoms. These are available up to a size 38 and they also come in a light wash.
So here is the description for these jeans on the website:
“A classic denim look with the comfort feel of a stretch legging. You’ll love these denim jeggings made in a curvy fit for women with smaller waists and fuller hips. The ultrasoft denim provides optimal comfort, and five-pocket styling with belt loops and a zip fly add classic details you know and love.”
The fabric is a cotton, polyester, rayon and spandex blend. One thing I do wish is that the description showed the percentage break down for the fabrics as I find that helpful when comparing styles. My other complaint is that there isn’t a size chart to show what the measurements are for a “Curvy” fit which you expect will be different from a regular fit.
I don’t tend to wear jeggings but I had high hopes for these especially when they compared them to stretch leggings. But I have to be honest and say I was disappointed with the fit of these jeans. I loved the colour of the wash, the length was great and the stomach area fit well but the back rise is way too short. If you have a larger booty like mine I think you will find this to be uncomfortable.
I thought with my Lipedema that sizing up to the 34 compared to what I wear in other brands would be okay but the knee and thigh were also tight. And I was expecting more stretch based on the description. But don’t worry, I have passed on my feedback to the design team and they have taken note. The one thing I will say is that a brand, Woman Within takes customer feedback very seriously and is always looking to improve their fit.
For a fun casual look I paired these jeans with a ribbed tank in an olive green and a fun camo print boyfriend style cardigan. Camo print is another huge trend and I can’t say I am a huge fan but I liked the idea of it being on a more classic piece like a cardigan which I unexpected. I also really liked the shad of colours in this camo print. I am wearing a size 26/28 in the tank and a size 30/32 in the sweater and the fit was great on both.
To complete this look I went a little outside the box and decided to add some pops of pink. I love the contrast of it against the green and it gave the look a feminine touch. These mules are also from Woman Within and I absolutely love them. They are so comfortable and have a padded and supportive rubber insole. Scrunchies and hair scarfs are all the rage right now and me and my signature bun couldn’t be happier about it. My classic cream Coach shoulder bag with gold studs was the perfect finishing touch.
For my second look I decided to try a style that has come back into fashion this year, the bootcut. I tend to shy away from them because they taper in at the knee which is my area of insecurity from my Lipedema and I am always worried about fit. I also wanted a new pair of black wash jeans. I love a black wash because they automatically dress up your denim and are perfect for going out or date night.
These are the “Perfect Bootcut Jeans” and their description says:
“Made from premium stretch denim that moves with you, these stretch jeans are designed to last. Made from soft denim that still retains its shape after each wear and wash, these bootcut jeans will become an everyday staple. Classic detailing and topstitching create a classic denim look along with five-pocket styling and a zip fly with button closure.”
This style is also available up to a size 38 and comes in petite and tall lengths as well as eight different washes including some fun colours. I am wearing the size 34 regular and my only complaint is that the inseam is a little long for me at 31 inches and I am 5’6.
I have to say I was super happy with the fit on these jeans. While they weren’t specifically designed for my shape I had ample room in the back rise and the leg had a generous fit and I was able to get that long clean line I wanted. The denim is really soft and super dark and they look sophisticated but are comfortable.
I definitely had dat night in mind when I put together this look so I went with a little cold shoulder action in this sleek tunic with 3/4 sleeves and a rich berry colour. You know some people say cold shoulders are out but I love their practicality. I mean you get to wear a regular bra and still show some skin for a little sex appeal. This top comes in a variety of colours and prints. I am wearing the size 30/32.
For you accessories I wanted to have some fun so I added these animal print mules from Woman Within. I love the bow detail and they look very feminine and pretty. They also come in black and red and are on major clearance right now. A cute striped clutch with the same colour palette as the top brought it together and the hair scarf was my something unexpected with its vibrant marigold colour. I bet you never expected that Woman Within would be serving up date night looks like this!
Well this is wrap on my denim review. I hope you enjoyed these looks and leave me a comment telling me which one is your fave.
