Happy Tuesday my blogger peeps, I hope your week is off to a great start! Another day means its another opportunity to slay this week and we certainly did not disappoint with these looks! Welcome to instalment #2 of my 3rd annual #HolidayDoubleSlay.
For today’s post my partner in crime is none other than the fabulous Gail of the infamous blog Fab Four Fashion. Together with her fellow blogger babes, Judy, Leslie and Nancy, they offer you insight into stylish options for plus, curvy, slim and tall figures and let me tell you they always show up to slay. I became online friends with these wonderful ladies not long after I started blogging and then we finally got the chance to connect in real life at a blogger event and there was no going back. Last year it was a no brainer to ask Gail to join in the festivities and it was so much fun that of course I had to invite her back this year. It only made since to introduce Gail to the wonderful world of ModCloth for this post since they are a size inclusive brand that caters to the needs of all of the Fab Four ladies. A special thank you to ModCloth for providing these looks and partnering with us on this project. I love Gail for so many reasons – she has a beautiful smile that will light up any room, her laugh is joyful and contagious and my girl knows how to keep it real! I love that she will tell you how she feels, good or bad and she doesn’t sugar coat it, we are a lot alike in that respect. She is a woman of character and uses her platform to empower women of all shapes and sizes to live their best lives as they are now.
And as woman in her 40’s she helps to show that age is just a number, how you look and feel on the inside is what truly matters. She isn’t afraid to take a risk whether in life or fashion and she represents for the petite babes too. She also understands the plight of us women who are size 20 and up!Sometimes you just hit it off with certain people and an unexpected bond forms. That’s how I feel about Gail. It’s like we get each other, when we are together no effort is required for us to laugh and have fun, its comfortable. So while we may not get to see each other very often, I truly appreciate the time we do get to spend together. Thank you Gail for agreeing to be a part of this project once again, it wouldn’t be the same without you! I let Gail choose a gift item for this post as I wanted to share what a great selection that ModCloth has to offer and are these glasses that she chose not the most adorable things? And of course they match our outfits! I am going to share some of my favourite gift options over on my Insta Stories so be sure to go and check them out. Here is a sneak peek of Gail’s look, doesn’t she look amazing? I love the way she combined these pieces and for the full details and more pics you will have to head over and read her blog post here.So what was my thought process when I put together this look? ModCloth has so many amazing metallic inspired pieces this holiday season that I wanted to use that as my source of inspiration. I mean let’s face it, I certainly do love my metallics.Of course that meant when I got a glimpse of this dress that it instantly was my top choice. The mauve colour is so on trend for winter and it adds a warm undertone to its metallic sheen. It’s a simple A-line silhouette that will work on any body type and it has a good amount of stretch so the fit is generous. The high neckline is not something I typically gravitate towards but with the soft stretchy fabric, I found that it didn’t bother me and I liked the fact that it was out of the box for me. The waist is also gathered and defined which is perfect for my shape. And not to worry, this dress is fully lined so it doesn’t stick to you and provides a clean silhouette. I am wearing the 4x which is my standard ModCloth size. Given that the dress is sleeveless and it is a little chilly these days here in the great white North, I decided to pair it with this fun and festive cardigan. If you pay close attention you may notice that this has already appeared on my Instagram page because it is so versatile and goes with so many things I have in my closet.
I love that it is a neutral black shade infused with sparkles in multiple colours, it gives it a real festive and party vibe. If you aren’t a fan of colour, this would be a great way to jazz up a little black dress. I am also wearing the 4x in the sweater. I love the 3/4 length sleeve and the fact that it is light weight, perfect for when the temperature rises at all the parties you may be attending over the holidays.
I decided to add a belt to the look to add some extra definition at the waist and to help keep the cardigan in place without doing it up but don’t tell anyone my secret lol. I absolutely hate when you do one button up on a cardigan and it pulls or you don’t do it up and when you have a larger chest like I do, it is constantly falling to the side. So this is my solution!
I had the best time ever accessorizing this look. These velvet floral shoes that are also from ModCloth were the perfect flat that still gives the look a dressy feel. One of the best things Modcloth has done this year is to start offering shoes in wide widths. I honestly can’t get enough of them! And their price point is so affordable. You couldn’t tell when I ordered the shoes that there was a little bit of blue in the floral pattern. So when I took them out of the box and put them against the sweater I knew that I wanted to play off the blue in both and that’s when I realized this clutch was going to be the perfect compliment. Finally I added some simple gold bangles to tie in with my belt and these fun pom pom earrings for a little bit of whimsy. Oh and I almost forgot about my new statement ring from Amadora Designs Jewelry – isn’t it to die for? This outfit is not your traditional holiday look and that’s why I love it so much. It’s comfortable, practical and cute and most importantly makes me feel great. Don’t be afraid to experiment with looks, textures, prints and colours – there are so many possibilities out there that you could be missing out on. And the holidays are the perfect excuse to have fun and be a little extra!
