Happy Wednesday blogger fam, we are getting closer to the weekend and I can’t wait, I hope you are having an awesome week! And yes I know I probably sound like a broken record but after the hectic busy season we had I am really going to enjoy the little bit of quiet time we get during the summer. Another day in July means I have another instalment in my “Soul to Skin – An Exposé on Fat Love” series for you. This post is going to be short and sweet as I like to say but it is a very important topic that I feel needs to be addressed. So here goes nothing…
Dear Men of Instagram and Facebook, this is a public service announcement for you: you may be surprised to hear this but my photos are not meant to please you, I am not giving you permission to objectify me, to hyper sexualize me or to fetishize me. My account, my blog and my mission have absolutely nothing to do with you, PERIOD. It is about empowering women and sharing my self love journey in hopes to inspire other women and young girls to live their best life no matter their size. If I post a picture in a sexy outfit that is about me feeling empowered and stepping outside of my comfort zone. And for this lingerie series it is about something very near and dear to my heart – body and size diversity. I am here to promote a positive image of women my size who are often made to feel ashamed of themselves, to hopefully make an impactful change on how society views us.
I did have some concerns when I decided to do this series because I was apprehensive about how much unwanted male attention it would receive and I didn’t want that to overshadow the true meaning of the project. I am very thankful that for the most part, my male followers have been very respectful and supportive. And for those of you who are regular followers and ones that I choose to interact with, this is not directed at you. In fact, I will address why I like having you as part of my community in an upcoming post in the series. This is for those that send me unwanted male genitalia photos in a DM (grounds for an automatic block), call me a tease, comment on how big my boobs or butt are, who ask me to send them naked photos of me, use emojis as a method of conveying disgusting messages and think that it is ok to call me baby. For the record, there is nothing that I personally hate more than being called baby or babe because FYI I AM NOT YOUR BAE! And my favourite one this week was the guy who decided to take the time to post a comment on my blog telling me what he wanted to do to me and then proceeded to recommend that I should be a porn star, that OMG (as if I didn’t know this already) a lot of men love a girl my size and I could be a porn supermodel. Like honestly, are you kidding me? You clearly have never read a thing I wrote and only looked at a photo because if you did you would know how insulting a comment it was.
I did to choose to become a blogger and an influencer and I know that means that I have opened myself up to the court of public opinion. But it does not give anyone the right to harass me or anyone else for that matter. So all I ask is that you think before you speak. We are human beings that deserve respect. And for all the women and men who come to my support and help put these trolls in their place, I say thank you so much, I truly appreciate it!
Now about this look… This is another baby doll from the VX Intimates line now available at SexyPlus Clothing . I love the soft cream colour and floral print. It is soft and feminine and something I would wear just because. If you have had a chance to check out the collection I would love to hear what you think. The new pieces should be arriving any day! And don’t forget, SexyPlus ships internationally so all my followers from around the globe can try it out.
Thank you to Katie of Katiuska Idrovo Photography for the experience of a lifetime. I love that you see the beauty in women of all shapes and sizes.
