Happy Wednesday everyone, I hope you are having a fabulous week! The countdown to several exciting things for me is on this week. June 30th marks the end of our “official” busy season at work and so that means summer hours start next week and we kick things off with a long weekend coming up to celebrate Canada Day. And last but certainly not least the 3rd anniversary of the blog is also July 1st. So you better stay tuned because I have something big coming your way to celebrate.
In the meantime I have a new blog post for you and I get to introduce you to another new brand – NYDJ. I have coveted NYDJ jeans for years after listening to my friends tell me how wonderful they fit but sadly they were just never available in my size. So this spring when they announced that they were extending their size range to a 28 I will not lie I was pretty darn excited. Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed when they didn’t have anyone in their launch campaign that was actually a size 26 or 28 so I could see how they fit.
So I did what I typically do and I took matters into my own hands and reached out to them. They were kind enough to gift me this pair of jeans to try but as always my opinions are all my own and honest! Because if I don’t like something I am certainly not going to take the time to share it with you. And after all the jeans I have tried this past year, there is a lot of competition out there.
I always like to give you a little background on a new brand as I think it speaks to who they are and how I relate to them as a customer. If you don’t know what NYDJ stands for it is “Not Your Daughter’s Jeans”. NYDJ jeans are made by women, for women—all shapes, all sizes, all women. Back in 2003, comfortable and flattering jeans for every woman simply did not exist. Most jeans had low waists and fit uncomfortably, and if they did fit well, they were just not stylish. They set out to design jeans that fit in all the right places and make every woman feel comfortable and confident—like her best self.
All of their jeans are made with Lift Tuck® Technology, their proprietary slimming panel with a patented criss-cross design to flatten in the front and curve-contouring construction to flatter curves in the back, so you look, feel and wear a size smaller. With 66 sizes in regular, petite, plus, tall and maternity, they are confident that they know your curves. And with the launch of the extended sizes they also launched the Curves 360 collection which is 3 new denim technologies that were especially designed to beautifully flatter all body shapes and sizes. And the best part is that they are truly size inclusive with an offering of size 00 to 28.
I decided to try the Sculpt technology because that was the style Chasity Garner Valentine of GarnerStyle had reviewed. Chasity is the same shape as me so I knew when they looked amazing on her that they were likely the best fit for me too. This style contours and accentuates the waistline with an exaggerated yoke and dart details. It is available in pull on legging and pull on boot cut options.
I chose to go with a classic black wash because they are clean and sleek and are perfect for dressing up or down. I like the look of a long lean silhouette. I also got the legging style bottom to keep with the clean polished aesthetic. I am wearing the size 28. Normally NYDJ will recommend that you size down one size from what you would typically wear in other brands. I opted to stay with a size 28 because I can sometimes be a 28 or 30 depending on the brand. Overall I was glad I stuck with the size 28 because it may have a little bit of room but I really felt secure in them.
OK so I have waited long enough to say that these jeans are ABSOLUTELY FRIGGIN FANTASTIC!!!! I honestly couldn’t believe it when I put them on. I didn’t have issues getting them up over my knee and thigh which can often be an issue and I didn’t have this huge gape in the back of the waist. It is so so hard to not have a gaping back.
The material is soft but durable and they stretch with you but still maintain their shape after you have worn them for a few hours. I absolutely love the waist band because it is thick which provides support and helps prevent any muffin top but it also is so comfortable. It doesn’t dig in to you when you sit and stays where it should be. I always do a sit test when I try a new pair of pants on and I remember being so excited when I didn’t even notice the waist band.
And last but certainly not least we cannot go without talking about what these do for your booty! There is no denying that the technology that they have put into this style does amazing things for defining your booty. Now I know not everyone has a booty like me but it definitely enhances whatever assets you have. And if you need some additional booty assistance I recommend trying the Boost style which is specifically designed for that.
So with this great new pair of kick ass jeans that I felt like a million bucks in I knew that I needed to pair them with something special. And when you want something special you can’t go wrong with Premme. I had finally got around to purchasing their iconic “Babes” cropped tee from their initial collection and I decided to go for it. That’s right this size 28 babe decided to combine the figure hugging jeans with the crop top!
I really wanted you to see all aspects of the jeans and I so I didn’t want to hide them with just any top. And because they fit so well and created a long clean line this tee was the perfect option. I am wearing the size 5 in this tee and if you are my size you are in luck because the 5 and 6 are still in stock. I then paired the look with a chic block heeled black sandal from Catherine’s, a fun pair of earrings from Lane Bryant, my favourite set of metallic bangles and for some pizzazz my iconic white Coach bag with yellow trim.
A great pair of jeans are a must have for any women’s wardrobe and if you are still on the hunt for that perfect pair I definitely recommend that you give NYDJ a try.
