Happy Wednesday everyone, I hope you are having a fantastic week. So after my day yesterday that was basically a comedy of errors I am feeling a bit better and a lot more organized. Let me tell you going without my phone all day was certainly eye opening!
Today on the blog in honour of Full Figured Fashion Week’s 10th Anniversary we are going to talk about all white party looks. The Curves at Sea All White Boat Cruise is tonight and it is one of the premier all white party events on the calendar, especially in the plus size community. The last two year’s I made sure I wore what I think are some pretty spectacular looks because it is definitely an event you want to be noticed at. I am very sad that I couldn’t attend this year but I had to pull together a look to commemorate the occasion.
And it wouldn’t be a FFF Week White Party without power house brand Ashley Stewart. This year Ashley Stewart is the title sponsor of the event and they are also having their must see fashion show aboard the cruise. They always put on an amazing show featuring some of the models who will walk in the runway finale showcase. So it was only natural that I finally featured Ashley Stewart on the blog today! I hadn’t realized that I have yet to feature them here so stay tuned because you are in for a treat.
Ashley Stewart is a brand that is “Dedicated To Women Who Love Their Curves”. Ashley Stewart started in local neighborhoods across the US. As an iconic women’s fashion brand, they have always stood for fashion forward, on-trend clothing at an affordable price. They currently have 89 stores across the country, one of the most socially engaged online communities, and a leading eCommerce business, so they are your neighborhood brand that has gone global. And that includes shipping to Canada ladies!
Ashley Stewart is a brand I had my eyes on when I first started blogging but back then their sizing only went up to a size 26. In March 2016 they launched extended sizing in 28 to 32 in a limited range of pieces. Then this past year they launched sizes 34 and 36. The selection of styles that are available in the full size range has definitely grown since they first launched it but there is still some work to be done. Can I please get some lingerie and swim in my size?
I have been trying out pieces here and there since the launch and what I have found is that the sizing is inconsistent and tends to run on the small size. Sometimes I can wear a 26/28 and sometimes a size 30/32 can be too small, particularly if the fabric has no stretch. Because size 28 and up are only available online this makes it difficult to shop and let me tell you sizes sell out quickly! They are definitely doing something right because they have tapped into the appeal of their extended size customer.
What I love is that they don’t discriminate based on size, they offer the same fashion forward edgy styles up to size 36 that they do in size 12. You want to rock a crop top, a mini skirt, a bodycon dress, a jumpsuit, a romper then you go for it girl because they have you covered. And they also have a great selection of work friendly pieces, amazing denim and their ever popular #churchflow looks.
I saw this romper awhile back and I was immediately smitten with it. It had that perfect combination of sassy, classy, fun, chic, edge and drama all in one garment. And it was white and came up to size 34/36! And when I opened up the package I certainly wasn’t disappointed. The romper is made of a soft stretch heavyweight jersey fabric with a back zipper that allows you to get in and out easily along with think bra friendly adjustable straps and boning in the bust to provide additional support. The lace overlay skirt has a beautiful pattern in it and adds depth and dimension to the look, the movement when you walk will take your breath away.
In terms of fit, I ordered the 34/36 because I wanted to be on the safe side in making sure the bottom of the romper fit me. With it being white I didn’t want it to be too tight. Unfortunately I ended up experiencing one of my common challenges in that the bottom fit but the top was too big. The adjustable straps helped combat this but it didn’t do a lot ascetically for my chest, I wish it showed more of my shape. My only other issue is that the lace overlay is very long, I am 5’6 and with a 2 inch heel it was still too long. It can easily be hemmed but it’s just something to keep in mind.
I love incorporating a little bit of colour into my white party looks through my accessories. With lilac being such a huge trend for spring and summer I decided to add these low block heels from Torrid for a light touch of this must have hue. This clutch from Aldo is actually the one I wore to last year’s cruise and it was the perfect choice once again. And the good news is they still have it and it is on sale! My necklace is a special Atelier piece that was a gift from Swarovski. I love that it is a limited edition style and has a little bit of edge to it.
So there you have it, the look I would have rocked for this year’s Cruise. I will miss everyone but I will be there in spirit and I can’t wait to see what everyone is wearing this year, I know they won’t disappoint. In my opinion, Ashley Stewart has one of the best selections of looks that are perfect for White Parties. So I also have put together a list of my top 10 favourite styles that are currently available in the links below that all go up to at least a size 32! If you need a white party look I would definitely check it out.
