Happy Wednesday everyone, I hope you had a wonderful Easter and the last few weeks have been good to you. I had a quiet Easter weekend reflecting on the loss of my Opa and since then I have been knee deep in tax season fun. Again I can’t thank everyone enough for the messages and kind words. I live far away from my family and we are going to have a celebration of life next month so it made me feel less alone and brought me so much comfort.
On a happier note we have made it to April and that means the countdown to the end of tax season is on and hopefully a return to normalcy! It also means that the temperatures are getting warmer and I might actually want to spend time outdoors.
I absolutely love shopping for my new spring wardrobe, it is my favourite season. And while I am always on the hunt for pretty dresses I also like to freshen up my casual wardrobe with cute and comfy pieces to wear on the weekend while I am chilling.
Thankfully Fit for Me by Fruit of the Loom has me covered with their recently launched Spring 2018 active and casual wear collections. The brand is all about offering comfortable plus-size casual wear that never skimps on style. You may recall that I introduced you to them back in early Fall and let me tell you they have taken things to the next level with these latest collections.
I love that there are so many vibrant colours and prints, cool graphics, unique details and different styles to choose from. And so many of the pieces can be mixed and matched to create unique looks that represent your personal style.
You also have pieces that are fully functional and supportive for working out and in complete contrast pieces for those I just want to chill out in the backyard and read a book and lounge in style days. And if you are a busy women on the go you can combine the pieces to transition from yoga or the gym to running errands to coffee with friends, the possibilities are endless.
And I love how the pieces are practical but stylish and incorporate the latest trends. You have cool joggers, bold powerful and empowering graphic statements as well as ones that are cute and fun, there is texture and fabrics like terry and ones with moisture wicking protection. And the full collection is available up to a 5x.
What really impresses me is that Fit for Me has been able to deliver pieces that are not only stylish but made from high quality fabrics and finishes at a very affordable price point. Cute and performance based plus size active and casual wear can be very expensive and not accessible to the average consumer.
And let’s be honest, the quality isn’t always there either. With Fit For Me I have found a brand I know I can trust because they believe in offering a quality product that is made to provide true comfort and fit specifically for the everyday woman and our curves. Also, can you believe that every piece in the collection is less than $20? Now that brings a smile to my face!
So I have to admit I had a hard time choosing what look to feature in this post because there were so many pieces I loved but I decided to embrace the jogger trend and terry fabric which has also been a must have.
I don’t know how you feel about old school joggers making a comeback but I fully confess that I wasn’t on board with it right away. I think it is because I am feeling a bit weird about the fact that I am old enough to have fashion trends from when I was a teenager coming “back” into fashion. It’s hard to imagine that the 80’s and 90’s are in again lol. I think I also always felt that joggers weren’t cool and didn’t look good on me, which was clearly reminiscent of my struggles with my self esteem in my younger days.
But the moment I put these terry joggers on it was an instant love connection. I really appreciate that they come in some fun colours like this moroccan sea blue. Just because you are plus size doesn’t mean you have to stick to black, don’t be afraid to express your personality. They have a relaxed fit and a sporty vibe with a side tonal stripe. The thick elastic waistband with a drawstring is comfortable and supportive and can be adjusted for a perfect fit. And as with all Fit For Me styles, they are tag-less to take comfort to the next level. I am wearing the 5x which is my typical Fit For Me size.
I decided to go for the full on jogger set look and paired them with the coordinating hoodie cardigan in the same beautiful blue. It may be a strong colour choice but keeping the look monochromatic keeps it polished and sleek. I love a good hoodie and the fact that this was a combination of a hoodie and a cardigan was perfect for me because it’s lightweight which is better for my constant hot running body temp. It has two front pockets which is perfect for holding your keys and cell phone. I love the simple clean lines, the long length and the straight hem. They also added a roll up detail on the sleeves that is stylish but also functional. Again I am wearing the 5x and I absolutely love the fit.
The easiest way to complete this look would be to choose from the amazing selection of tees that Fit For Me has to offer. But I wanted to be different and mixed it with this active wear tank with a built in bra. I was totally obsessed with this print and I loved how it popped against the blue. From a practical standpoint it is made with moisture wicking fabric that keeps you dry and the open back and mesh inserts help keep you cool. I did wear a bra with it because that is my personal preference but you could easily go without. I love the long length of it, it has great stretch and shape defining seaming. I also really appreciate that their sizing is consistent, I am wearing the 5x in this as well. To pull everything together I grabbed a colourful pair of sneakers.
Fruit of the Loom has a saying that they make “colourful, smile-inducing clothes with fits that won’t quit and they’re wallet-friendly too. Our clothes are made so you can grab the world by the waistband and start your day happy.” I am so glad that they added Fit For Me to the family and realized that there was a need in the plus size market. My curves know they are made for them and when I wear their clothes I definitely start my day with a smile.
