Happy Tuesday everyone and more importantly Happy First Day of Spring!!!! I myself couldn’t be happier that spring has finally arrived!! I don’t know about you but I found this winter particularly rough. It was so nice this week to have the sun shining and to have more hours of daylight.
So I apologize for the lag in getting you a new post. Work has been super busy and I have been having a hard time managing it all. But we are half way through tax season so I am starting to countdown to the time where I get some normalcy back in my schedule.
To celebrate spring of course I am going to have to feature a dress, I mean it is my favourite item of clothing to wear after all. My legs are craving the days wear they can be bare again lol. But this is not just any dress, this dress is by indie designer Lorenza James by Elle Dove. I had the pleasure of seeing this new designer showcase her collection at last year’s Life Styled Honors event in Atlanta. I immediately fell in love with her collection and I felt like we were kindred spirits when all the models were walking bare foot. I would be bare foot all the time if I could after all!
Since then we have been keeping in touch over social media and when she offered to make me my favourite dress from that collection I was so excited and of course said a huge thank you and hell yes let’s do this! This dress is something different for me because first of all it’s black and secondly its a relaxed boho shape that I normally wouldn’t gravitate to.
But I loved how effortless it looked coming down the runway and it just spoke to me, I liked the idea that it was out of the box for me. And of course the details are absolutely stunning. The off the shoulder design with the elbow length sleeve and adjustable bodice tied with a thick black ribbon are visually eye grabbing and unique. And the lace hem is divine. The quality of the fabrics used is second to none and the care you can see in the construction of this hand made garment is top notch. I appreciate quality craftsmanship and the time it takes to make a piece like this.
One of the things that I love about working with an indie designer is that pieces are made to my measurements so they fit perfectly. So while her Etsy page may say sizes 12 to 26 she will make pieces for those of us her larger. And I love that they are willing to do that and take the risk on an extended size because that is how we have the opportunity to get trendy unique pieces in our size.
I am also really excited to share that her Spring Summer 2018collection”Energy” is going to be released very soon and I can’t wait to see what it has to offer. Girl this waiting is killing me!
So of course I had to inject some colour into this look and I did that through my accessories. I shot this the same day that I shot my swim look book and I imagined that it would something I would love to wear on vacation, I think it would be perfect in Barbados, another one of my favourite islands.
These wedge sandals are from Simply Be USA and I absolutely love them. They are an extra wide width and the wedge provides a stable platform but they are also not super high. I have had these shoes for awhile now so they are no longer available but I gave you a link to the cutest flatforms that I found at Simply Be USA. And let me tell you those babies are going to be bought by me as soon as I am done this post lol.
I also already had this gorgeous teal statement necklace from Lane Bryant in my accessories at home. I loved how it made a real impact and the chunky pieces works with such a bare neckline. Fortunately they have a new piece that is very similar that I gave you the link for. These earrings are extra special because they were hand made for me by the wonderful owner of Curvaceous Diva Boutique, Earlene Gibson. Earlene is one of my loyal followers and she knows how much I love my accessories so she made me 3 pairs of beautiful earrings. These ones went perfectly with this necklace. Thank you so much Earlene for the beautiful gift, I love them. Finally I added this colourful clutch that was a gift from my Mom.
This look is playful, sassy, comfortable, and pretty and I love the freedom and movement it makes, it is definitely twirl worthy! If you are looking for something out of the box then I recommend you give Lorenza James by Elle Dove a try!
