Happy Thursday everyone, are you excited the week is almost over? I am unfortunately still sick so the week has been a bit of a blur for me so far. But I am happy to close the chapter on February and say hello to March, let the official countdown to spring begin!
I wanted to say thank you for all the love on the 1st instalment of this look book, I really appreciate it and it made me smile even if I was in bed. I am so excited to see positive changes in the plus landscape and more support of body diversity. There is still a lot to be done but I will take it.
When I was putting this look book together I knew I had to reach out to Torrid to be a part of it. I love all the brands I am lucky enough to work with but Torrid swim is hands down my fave, the majority of my suits are definitely from there. And I love that they make sexy and fun options up to a size 6.
Each year their collection gets better and better and there are always so many suits on my wish list. They offer a great variety of one pieces, tankinis and bikinis that allow you to choose something in your comfort zone, step outside it or do both! I love that you can also choose different variations and mix and match pieces to truly make a unique look.
And for all my Disney lovers wow do they have you covered this year! You can fulfill those Ariel mermaid dreams or your Minnie Mouse retro vibes. I was also pleased to see that they expanded their cover up options so you could build a true resort worthy head to toe look.
I always gravitate to bright colours and prints particularly when it comes to swim because it makes me happy and vacation is a time where anything goes. Remember what happens on vacation stays on vacation right? Wink wink ๐
But when I was browsing through this year’s collection I was drawn to this black lace look that is part of their “Swim Vixen” collection. It is dubbed as shape wear for the beach that is designed with your favourite bra styles built in for superior support and the sexiest options out there to help you unleash your inner mermaid. Let’s just say I felt they were spot on with their description.
When this suit arrived and I saw it in person it spoke luxury to me. So when I imagined what place I wanted to jet set off to with it, Dubai immediately came to mind. While I have never been to Dubai it is definitely on my bucket list. From the pictures I have seen, from talking to people who have been and to reading about it, I think it is it’s own unique world. And I can’t help but admit that the idea of being as extra a I want in my wardrobe while I am there definitely appeals to me. And who am I to turn down luxury shopping, breathtaking modern architecture and an amazing nightlife. So if you are looking for someone to take with you I am totally available!
I haven’t worn many tankinis since I became comfortable wearing bikinis but I loved the babydoll fly away front with this gorgeous lace. The lace gives you some coverage if you like but it’s peekaboo effect is ultra sexy. And if the wind catches it right? Well then your hunny will get an enticing sneak peek. It has a push up cup with a front twist that gives you the cleavage of your dreams. And as with all Torrid tops I love that everything is adjustable – the straps, the inner bra closure and the removable push up bra pads. Now Torrid swim tops are not designed specifically for us super busty gals (they say cup sizes B-DD) but my trick is to buy one size larger, tighten the inner band and remove the pads. I am wearing the 5 which is my typical size.
Torrid high waisted swim bottoms are my go to style. I love how they provide great support but are still comfortable and the ruching gives you a great shape. I particularly like that they made these in the matching lace and didn’t stick to basic black. It gives the suit a real luxe feel. With bottoms I go back and forth between a 5 and a 6. Last year I found they ran a little small so I got a 6 in these but they are actually a little big and I could have sized down. It’s great to have the option to mix and match sizes if you need it.
Now we must talk about this cover up because ladies it is so friggin fabulous! I love the off the shoulder neckline, the flounce hem and the mermaid cut. It goes beautifully with this suit. And I would totally rock this with a bra and panties for a night on the town, the coverage is pretty good so it wouldn’t actually show that much skin. I am wearing the 5 and it fit like a glove.
To pull everything together I stuck to silver accessories and elevated it to a luxe level. These flat-form sandals are also from Torrid and the fit is amazing. I love a flat-form because i can walk in it but it gives me height. Then I added these statement making earrings from H&M, my silver Coach tote and these adorable rhinestone cat eye sunnies from Torrid.
Overall with this look I know I would stand out from the crowd and make one hell of an entrance both coming and going. And if I ever get to to Dubai, that is exactly what I plan on doing. Don’t be afraid to be bold, if they are going to look you might as well make it worth their while!
Stay tuned tomorrow for my next installment and port of call.
Thank you to Katie of Katiuska Idrovo Photography for developing this look book with me.
