Happy Friday everyone, I hope you all had a fantastic week and have an even better weekend! Is anyone else feeling particularly TGIF this week? I know I sure am. I think it is because it was my first full week back to work after my holiday break and the hustle and bustle of audit and tax season has definitely begun. I also can’t say that I am particularly excited for the snow we are supposed to start getting this afternoon, it has been pouring rain for over a day now and has been very warm but it appears Mother Nature is messing with us.
So for all of you who haven’t followed me during the winter months before you might notice that the frequency of my posts goes down this time of year because I am just so busy with my day job. I try to get one in every week for you but please be patient with me if I don’t. I promise I will do my best. I am also looking for inspiration so if you have specific content requests please don’t hesitate to drop me a note.
For today’s post we are going to talk about this look I put together from Full Beauty. And yes these pictures were taken when we didn’t have snow! But man oh man was it windy that day, let’s just say you can see in some of the pics where the wind wasn’t cooperating with me lol. As you all know I am an Own Your Curves Ambassador with Full Beauty so I work with them all year round. I am always on their site scouting out the best options and deals and seeing what new and different things I can show you. Their size range is very extensive so I love showing options that my girls that are bigger than a size 28 can also rock.
My obsession with faux fur definitely became real in 2017. I can’t believe that the full length fur coat I rocked from Full Beauty last January sparked such an obsession. And it has to be one of the biggest trends of the 2017 and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. So I have more excuses to be extra! And well practically every brand has offered something in faux fur, it definitely is a challenge to find anything above a size 24 that fits well in my opinion. But Full Beauty definitely knocked it out of the park with their selection and size range. I mean the pink jacket at The Curvy Con definitely set the precedent.
When I saw this vest I was attracted to the texture. The other pieces I have are short hair and really soft. But this piece has long strands that are still super soft but also really playful. The animal print creates this super cool visual impact, it is like a work of art. I will warn you that it does shed but that is pretty par for the course when it comes to faux fur. It is also available in black.
I was really impressed with some thoughtful details that they added to this vest. Faux fur is often bulky and this one was more lightweight. The back is elasticized at the waist so it cinches you in and creates a great shape. For me it is perfect because it allows room for my booty but doesn’t feel so over sized everywhere else. It also has a hook and eye closure if you want to wear it closed. Then you can pop the colour up and look super fierce. And it has pockets! I am wearing the size 34, I tend to have to size up in outerwear in general and these type of pieces can run smaller.
Sweater dresses were also something that made quite a come back this fall so when I saw this one I thought I would give it a try. While I love the look of a sweater dress I always have to keep in mind the warmth factor because I am always so damn hot. And there are no turtlenecks in my world, I always feel like they are strangling me!
This particular one from Roaman’s is made of a nice lightweight knit so it’s not too bulky and actually is pretty cool temperature wise. It has a great trapeze shape which worked perfectly with my shape and I love the cowl neck. Compared to a turtleneck, a cowl neck still gives you that warm and cozy look but let’s you breathe. This dress also comes in black. I am wearing the size 26/28 and the fit was really good. Unfortunately for some reason this dress wasn’t made in the larger sizes.
I styled the dress for a more casual playful look but it could also easily be worn to the office with a pair of heels and some simple metallic jewelry. My struggle with boots continues to be real so for those of you who can wear a tall boot I would definitely go for it. For me I had to stick to something that was mid calf. These are my go to’s from Full Beauty’s Comfortview line. I liked mixing the grey with the wine colour and felt it really played off of the vest. If you are looking for boots, they have a fantastic sale on right now.
This bag is also from Full Beauty, it is from the Ellos collection which is one of the other brands I love. The fringe and suede were fun and added some more texture to the look. I added a colourful fur pom pom for some fun. And then I get the pom pom theme going with this white earrings from H&M. I love them, they are dramatic and whimsical. We finished things off with a bold lip.
The best thing about this look is that everything I am wearing is on sale and in stock! It’s a perfect winter look so happy shopping!
Thank you to Katie of Katiuska Idrovo Photography for capturing this look.
