Happy Wednesday my blog fam, how is everyone doing? Are you enjoying this year’s edition of my #HolidayDoubleSlay? Well I sure hope so! I can’t believe we are already on to look 3 but time flies when you are having fun!
Today we are going to showcase another one of my fave brands that is now like family to me, Full Beauty. They took a chance on working with me at an early stage in my blogging career despite the fact that I was the pesky Canadian who kept asking to work with them and I have really bonded with their amazing team that I work with. When I went to New York in June and they took a chance on doing a full photo shoot with me as a size 28 and let me style everything, I knew I had found a brand that understood my vision and mission and that I wanted a long term relationship with. So a huge thank you for all you have done for me in 2017 and I can’t wait to see what we do together in 2018!
I asked my girl Sarah, of the blog, Sarah Taylor’s Journey to join me in this Slay and highlighting all that Full Beauty has to offer. Sarah took part in last year’s project and we have only become closer in the last year. She is a woman of many talents as not only does she blog but she is a model, former Miss Plus Canada, motivational speaker and assistant editor at FabUplus Magazine. And if that’s not enough she is on a new journey to becoming a certified personal trainer. I am always amazed at how dedicated and hard working she is. She’s not afraid to tackle things head on and if she has a goal she goes for it. I admire her strength in the face of adversity because she has definitely faced some challenges along the way.
But she is also one of the nicest people I have ever met, she has a fun and goofy side and we laugh and have a lot of fun when we are together. But I can also count on her to be there when I need her and to have the tough conversations. And I am honoured when she looks to me for advice. She is like a little sister to me. We support each other’s hopes and dreams and when push comes to shove I know she has my back. I am so grateful for our friendship.
And let’s face it, she is a total babe! I always tease her because she wears super high heels when we shoot and since she is already 5 inches taller than me, I feel so short. But as you can see we find a way to make it work. I love doing these types of shoots because the energy that we have on set is magic. Whether we are fierce or goofy, its absolutely us. And for this look FIERCE is definitely the name of the game! So I am giving you a sneak peek of Sarah’s look but for more details be sure to head on over to her blog and check it out.
So let’s talk about my look….
The great thing about Full Beauty is that it is a marketplace so it offers a variety of different brands both internal and external in the convenience of a one stop shop. So while Sarah chose to feature a third party external brand, in Fashion to Figure, I chose to highlight one of my favourite internal brands, Roaman’s. And since she was looking like such a glamazon I really had to bring my A game to the table.
You could say that I have a little obsession with faux fur these days but I blame it all on Full Beauty for providing so many great options all the way up to a 5x. It all started last December with that gorgeous full length silver faux fur coat. Now I can’t stop myself! And of course it has been a huge trend for 2017. The pink faux fur jacket that Roaman’s had at the Curvy Con in September flew off the racks instantly! I really thought there were going to be some fights for it lol. I love this jacket because it is super soft and has that rich luxurious feel of the furs my aunt and grandmothers used to wear when I was younger.
And I mean can we talk about this colour? The colour is what totally sold it for me. It does look more merlot on the website but when I opened up the package and saw that it was more of a mulberry or winterberry as they called it I was even more excited as it speaks to my love of all things in the purple family. I love that it has a zipper so it is easy to close compared to some that have hook and eye closures.
I also really like that it hits me at the knee so you can wear it with dresses or pants which makes it more versatile. I do find that the faux fur pieces tend to run a bit small, especially to fit my hips so I am wearing a 5x as I like to make sure I have lots of room to wear layers and sit down it with the zipper done up.
I decided to create a monochromatic look by pairing it with this beautiful lace off the shoulder dress. Lace is also a huge trend this holiday season and it provides a certain level of sophistication to any look. I love it’s versatility too. This dress could easily be dressed up or down. The pattern of the lace is gorgeous and its large scale is flattering to my figure and creates visual interest. I also love that it doesn’t scream holiday, you could easily wear it for any occasion.
This dress is a classic sheath shape with a stretch lining underneath and a high quality broad lace overlay. It has elastic in the neckline to help it stay in place. And the elbow length sleeves are just lace so you have coverage but also a hint of skin showing through to make it sexy. They also have a slight bell shape which is totally on trend this year. I am wearing the size 30 in this dress. I knew I was going to need to size up because of the straight silhouette. I would consider getting a 32 in the future for a more relaxed look, I think it all depends on your comfort level.
To accessorize this look I decided to go a somewhat non traditional route for me and choose silver. My natural tendency with this colour palette would have been to choose gold. Did you know that Full Beauty also has an amazing selection of accessories to choose from? I instantly fell in love with this clutch which is also by Roaman’s. I loved the architectural detail of the hatched metal combined with the 3D flowers. It really pops against the look.
I then added a new pair of shoes that I absolutely love from Simply Be. These wedge blingy sandals are perfect for me because they are still dressy but I have the support of the wedge. And they come in extra wide width. I am wearing a 9EEE and the fit is perfect. And the other great thing is the price doesn’t break the bank for a shoe you might not wear very often. I then added a statement earring from Aldo. I loved the texture and use of colour in these earrings. And while they don’t directly match the dress, they compliment it. A intricate but delicate silver bracelet completed the look.
Looking and feeling great during the holidays is all about finding a look that works for you. So don’t be afraid to stray away from the ordinary and look for something that really speaks to you. Its your time to shine and if you feel great in what you are wearing, you will shine bright no matter what!
This look was provided by Full Beauty but all opinions are my own.
