Happy Tuesday everyone, I hope your week has started off fabulously! I am slowly but surely getting back into a routine and I have to say it feels great.
As the weather looks like it is finally going to cool off by the end of this week I wanted to do a post about what I like to wear when I am not at the office for Fall. While I will still wear a lot of dresses I do like to add some pants into the mix. And one of my favourites is definitely the Cropped Trouser Pant in All Nighter Ponte from Torrid.
These pants are honestly one of the most comfortable pants I have ever worn and that says a lot because I really don’t love pants. This is one of Torrid’s core styles so you will see them available from season to season in a variety of fun colours. I have them in red, purple and teal too. I love that they just don’t stick to basic black with these. When I saw them come out in the merlot and olive they automatically went in my shopping cart!
The material of these pants is like magic – they are wrinkle free, have power stretch that still allows you to breathe and they give you a smooth and lean leg silhouette. The quality ponte fabric holds it shape and is thick so you don’t see any lumps and bumps despite the skinny leg. And even though they are comfortable they are still a true pant with a button and zip close and 4 welt pockets.
I am wearing the size 30 here. Sometimes I get a size 28 but I wanted them to be a little looser in the leg in case I choose to wear them on a business casual day as my new firm is a little stricter in the dress code department. Unfortunately the merlot has sold out but they do often restock them so I always keep my eyes on the website. I did provide a link to the pixie pant in merlot as it is a similar style.
The weather may get cooler when fall hits but my internal temperature still says its summer probably until about November. So you will still see me rocking my sandals until the last possible minute. It probably also has to do with the fact that I hate socks lol. So while the sandals I am sporting for both these looks from Full Beauty are no longer available I did provide links for some cute mules and flats that would work perfectly with these looks. I know not all of you are weird like me!
Because I am always so hot I also take a different approach to layering. Instead of wearing a few cozy long sleeve options I will pair a sleeveless option with a lightweight cardigan or shrug. That way I can take off the sweater if I am hot but I also get the feeling of wearing a fall look or trend.
For the olive pants I decided to play with a more neutral softer colour palette and added this baby doll style tank with a hint of merlot and blush. I am a huge fan of Torrid tanks that are made of this buttery soft knit fabric. They wash well, feel great, don’t pill and don’t wrinkle. I am wearing a 4x in this style and it is super comfortable. I like the little bit of volume that this shirt adds against the skinny leg of the pants.
I then added this gorgeous pointelle light weight cardigan in olive. Sadly this sweater is sold out but I gave you a link for another alternative from Torrid. I am wearing a 5x which I typically do because I like them to be a little larger and cozy. The design in this cardigan is really pretty and is a perfect feminine detail that ties in with the soft floral pattern of the tank. I then simply added an earring, bracelet and this fun pom pom bag from Aldo to complete the look.
For the merlot pants I decided to do the opposite and went for a rich vibrant colour palette. I was immediately drawn to this tank because of the striking pattern and the interesting strappy details in both the front and back. I also absolutely love this powerful print with its pops of bold marigold and teal. This is almost sold out but I was able to find you an alternative that has a somewhat similar pattern in the same colours. I am wearing the 4x in this as well and it is all made of the same great knit fabric.
Military details are a huge trend for fall and I absolutely love the gold button details on this shrug. I have this shrug in black with short sleeves and I was pleased to see them bring it out in 3/4 sleeves. I wear shrugs not because I hate my arms but because they are a perfect light weight layer for me.
The charcoal colour is a nice alternative to your basic black and plays off of the pattern in the tank top. This is also sold out but I gave you the link to a really cute alternative. It is currently available in merlot. I completed this look with a pop of colour in these flower earrings from Xehar Curvy, some metallic bangles and my vintage Kate Spade black & white striped bag.
So there you have it peeps, two casual off duty looks that you would definitely see me wearing on the weekend or for a casual day at the office. Remember I may be glam but I can also be practical too! Feeling and looking great shouldn’t feel like an insurmountable overwhelming task. Its about taking every day basics and styling them in a way that looks polished but requires minimal effort. And buying pieces that mix and match also help. In this case you could wear both of these pants with each of the tank and sweater combos for 2 completely different looks.
Special thanks to Liz of Liz Estrada Photography for capturing this look.
