Happy Sunday everyone, I hope you are all having a fantastic weekend. I am back from LA and I have so much content to share with you guys that you better get ready! Sometimes I get inspired to write a post late at night so this one is a special treat.
For today’s post I am going to tackle something that is near and dear to I think almost every woman, and in particular plus size woman – baring our arms! While I personally choose to go sleeveless on almost a daily basis I know that there are a lot of you out there that are uncomfortable showing your arms and you avoid wearing pieces that are sleeveless or you always wear a shrug or sweater to cover up.
Regardless of my personal preferences I think it is my duty to share with you all the amazing products and brands that I come across as a blogger and influencer because in the end all that matters to me is that you feel confident and beautiful in what you wear every day.
So what if I I told you there is another option out there that will provide you with that much desired arm coverage but instead of covering up your dress or top it will actually enhance the look of your outfit? I am always amazed at the unique new products that my friend Stef finds to carry in her boutique, SexyPlus Clothing. And Sleevey Wonders is certainly no exception.
Sleevey Wonders are slip on sleeves that are designed to be worn underneath sleeveless and strapless tops and dresses to provide that much desired arm coverage without taking away from your outfit. In fact they can transform your outfit into a completely different look.
All Sleevey Wonders are reversible with one side providing a low v-neckline and the other side with a more modest scoop neck. They offer a variety of different options in colour, sleeve length, and fabrics including lace, mesh and jersey. You can even create an off the shoulder or cold shoulder look if you want to show a little skin. They come in sizes XL to 3x. Please note that all styles are not currently available in a 3x.
So as I often do I decided to put the Sleevey Wonder to the test. I chose the basic mesh 3/4 sleeve pair to try in black in a 3x. The size chart indicates that this is a 24/26 so I was curious to see if it would fit me. As you can see they fit perfectly! And to be honest there was still a lot of room in the sleeve, I could easily bend my arm and it didn’t feel tight at all. The size chart also says it fits biceps that are 17 to 22 inches and that is accurate. My biceps are 20 inches as a point of reference.
I paired the sleeves with the beautiful Concerto dress to illustrate the full effect that the sleeves can have on a look. On its own the Concerto dress is sleeveless with bra friendly straps and a sweetheart neckline and the back hits you about mid way up. So it does show a decent amount of skin which may not be everyone’s cup of tea. I am wearing the 4x in this dress.
I love the look of the dress on its own with its fit and flare silhouette, sweeping floor length skirt and stretch but high quality fabric that gives it a classic, sophisticated and elegant feel. It’s a versatile piece that can be worn dressed up as I have shown here but you could also easily wear it with a cute pair of sandals or wedges and some playful accessories like some fringe earrings for a more casual look.
But I have to admit that adding the sleeve brought the dress to a whole other level of style. It now has a very regal feel and the sleeves add some flare to an otherwise basic black dress. They fit perfectly with the dress and since they don’t have any arm seams you would never know that it wasn’t designed that way. I am wearing the deep v-neckline in the front so that it didn’t distract from the neckline of the dress. And I love that the mesh provides coverage but still shows some skin.
I styled this to be a very dramatic look perfect for a wedding, gala or other special occasion. With a classic top knot and bold lip it felt glamorous and timeless. These earrings and necklace from Platnium Jewelry are made of high quality sterling silver that is then plated in platinum for a high quality and long lasting finish. They then use lab created stones to complete their designs. I love these pieces because they provide the look and feel of high end genuine fine jewelry for a fraction of the cost. I also love that their chains for all their pendants are available in different lengths so they were able to accommodate my need for a 22 inch length.
Finally I added a bit of whimsy with this bracelet from SexyPlus that has an interchangeable face on it, some simple gold sling backs and this embellished clutch from Aldo. Did I mention I was a little obsessed with clutches? Maybe just a little…
So what’s my final verdict? I would wear the dress without the sleeves in the spring/summer and with the sleeves in fall/winter making this a year round investment piece for my closet. Tell me, what would you do – sleeves or no sleeves?
