Happy Sunday everyone, I hope you are all having a great weekend. It’s a long weekend here in Canada and as is typical that means the weather is crappy. But I have been busy planning my trip to LA so I can’t complain.
When I went to New York in June for Full Figured Fashion Week, I had the chance to visit Eloquii head office and see the amazing team behind one of my fave brands. The energy and creativity you see and feel when you walk in their space is infectious and I love seeing what goes on behind the scenes. And the team is honestly so nice and super friendly, I love them to pieces!
As usual they were kind enough to send me home with a few looks that I talked about on Eloquii Live on Instagram when I was there and I am finally getting around to sharing them this week. And the good news is that the pieces are still in stock and most are on sale so it’s the perfect opportunity to snatch them up. The 2nd look will go up later this week.
I love wearing Eloquii looks to the office. They make me feel polished and professional but at the same time stylish and on trend. And while my work environment is more conservative which means I can’t wear everything to the office I like that they offer a good variety. And it’s perfect for those of you who work in a more relaxed environment.
When I saw the print on this skirt I knew I couldn’t pass it up. I love the cross hatch dimensional stripes against the crisp white background. There is also a multitude of colours but in a more muted palette. And this is a great print to transition into fall.
And of course it is a classic midi style that is my fave. But with this one they added this cute matching belt to add some drama. And I always find it is the little details, like the fact that the belt is fully detachable and sewn with a seam in the back that allows it to sit perfectly at the waist.
The skirt has a flat front with an elastic back and something most of us don’t want to go without these days, pockets. I am wearing the 28 and I actually found it to be a little big, I would definitely size down next time. I had the opportunity to chat with their Creative Director Jodi Arnold and she noted that they changed their fit model and as a result their sizing in recent collections has increased by about half a size. So you may want to take that into consideration. I have definitely noticed things fitting bigger.
I decided to do something unexpected for me and pair the skirt with this black cold shoulder shirt. It’s made of a stretch poplin fabric which is perfect for hot summer weather. I love the classic feeling of the white piping and how it ties in with the skirt and the bows on the sleeves are a perfect feminine touch. And the bows are adjustable to accommodate different arm sizes. The cold shoulder allows you to be in trend but the sleeve and higher neckline keep things professional.
I am wearing the 28 in this shirt and I was very pleased with the fit. Sometimes structured shirts can be a challenge for me because of my hips but this one skimmed over them perfectly. The only complaint I have with this shirt is the small trim on the inside of the sleeves. It isn’t sewn down and I found that it kept popping out. But it is an easy fix for the tailor.
To accessorize the look I played off the soft pastels in the striped of the skirt. These pearl embellished sandals also from Eloquii are the cutest flat slide I have seen all season. Embellishment is all the rage right now and the pearls combined with the soft pink are absolute perfection. I typically wear an 8 1/2 shoe so with Eloquii I typically size down to an 8 but in this case I needed the 9. I found they ran a little tight in the width in the slide part in the 8.
I then added these olive beaded earrings from Lane Bryant and a set of lilac beaded bracelets also from LB. I love being able to pull several different colours into a look and make unexpected pairings work together. It puts my personality into the outfit. Finally I added this soft blue quilted bag from Kate Spade to add a fresh pop of colour and bring my signature accessory to the look.
If I were going to transition the skirt and blouse to fall I would swap out the sandal for a cute flat or heel and play more with the olive green or the rich gold and red and add a pair of tights.
But for right now I am determined to make the most of the warm weather we have left and enjoy the rest of the summer. And I definitely want to see more beautiful scenery like what you see in these pictures, the gorgeous Toronto skyline and waterfront.
Special thanks to Katie of Katiuska Idrovo Photography for capturing this look.
