Happy Wednesday everyone, I hope you are all doing well! I took a little break from the blog last week while I was in Atlanta fir the TCF Style Expo but I am back at it and I gave some great content coming up for you. And can you believe it’s already August? Time is flying by!
For today’s post I am thrilled to feature another brand that caters to not only plus size but also extended sizes in the athletic wear market – Juno Active. I had been admiring them from afar so I was excited when they reached out to see if I wanted to try their line, of course I said yes. And not only do they offer active wear but also swim wear and intimates. They offer sizes XL to 6X.
As I always do with a new brand, I took some time to see what they are all about and I have to say their mission statement resonated with me immediately – “Empowering women to find their own definition of an Active. Life. Style.”. I haven’t featured active wear on the blog since January when I shared a very personal truth. I received amazing support from many people but I also received some negative troll back lash. But I will always strive to dispel the notion that fat women aren’t active. I may not be out there running marathons but I still live my life every day and have a need for great active wear that can keep up with my busy schedule.
I feel that Juno Active gets that by focusing on offering functional pieces made with high tech fabrics that mean these pieces will last. They are specifically designed for the plus size figure and they offer solutions for every day challenges like chafing, bust support and heat management. And let me tell you I need help with all of that!
I wanted to try several different functional pieces so I could provide a good overview of what the brand has to offer. I did try the Hush Boxer Brief which you won’t see pictured and I just have to say that they are hands down the most amazing chafing short I have tried, and trust me I have tried a lot!
While I have other brands that I like for specific purposes these are the best all around every day pair. The material is magical, allowing you to breathe and move with comfort. They are lightweight and the perfect length. I often gave trouble finding ones that don’t roll up on my thigh because I have thick thighs but these ones are amazing, they have never rolled up, I mean never. And they are a great length for dresses that are just above the knee or longer. I got a 5x.
I also tried their basic SoftWik V-Neck tee in a great heather pink. It’s the perfect every day tee with amazing stretch and the softest fabric. It’s not clingy but still gives you some shape and is a great length, perfect for covering your tummy and your butt with leggings. I got a 5x.
Pictured here I am wearing some other great pieces that I fell in love with. These gaucho shorts are perfect for me because they have a wide leg which accommodates my large thighs and the length hits you just below the knee so they aren’t riding up on me when I walk. They have a roll waist band so you can choose how high you want to wear them and there is absolutely no elastic so they won’t dig in.
As with all their pieces the fabric is soft and a great weight. I am wearing a 5x and I did find them to be too big, particularly in the waist for me. I would definitely size down in the future. If you look at their size chart, the measurements run small, particularly in the waist compared to other brands I wear so that is why I ordered the 5x but in reality the bottoms appear more generous.
I then decided to add this cute printed sports bra. This low impact style is super comfortable and can easily be worn underneath a top, over another sports bra or on it’s own like I did here. I get super over heated very easily so I feel much more comfortable wearing something like this when I am out and about on a hot day.
It still provides great coverage and combined with the high waist on the shorts, it is a great look. Remember I always say we shouldn’t feel like we have to hide our bodies, especially when it is hot. I am wearing the 4x and I liked the fit, it was secure but not too tight.
Finally I wanted to try one of their layering pieces so I chose this SoftSport Fleece Full Zip Hoodie in a soft shade of green. I love a great hoodie as it is the perfect piece to wear all year round. The fabric on this one is lightweight but durable and it doesn’t add unnecessary bulk. It is designed to wick sweat away from the body while holding warmth in. It is also highly functional with zippered pockets to keep your belongings safe and the zippers are reflective. I am wearing the 5x which would be my typical size for a hoodie.
Overall I give Juno Active a huge two thumbs up for creating quality pieces with style, function and comfort in mind. I love what the brand stands for and the fact that they offer one of the largest size ranges in plus size active wear. If you are in the need for some new pieces I suggest you check them out!
Thank you to Katie of Katiuska Idrovo Photography for capturing this look.
