Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope you are all doing well, I am counting down the days to June 30th not because it’s the weekend but because that means another major tax filing deadline in Canada will be over – woohoo!
This week on the blog I am going to feature a couple of summer looks care of the amazing team at Lane Bryant. I thought it would be fun to take advantage of the scenery while I was in NYC. And I mean I was staying like a block away from their flagship store in NYC. But can you believe I never made it there to actually shop? Man it was a busy week!
As I mentioned in another post there was a major heat wave while I was there and I was definitely looking for some cooler wardrobe options. This dress is the perfect solution for keeping cool but looking stylish.
Trends come and go and as history has shown us we are destined to repeat ourselves, particularly when it comes to fashion. When I saw that seersucker was back in action this summer it definitely evoked some childhood memories. And they weren’t necessarily great one lol. As a 70’s baby I remember when my Mom put me in seersucker and I always thought it was geeky looking. What exactly is seer sucker you may be wondering? It is basically a textured cotton blend fabric.
I was drawn to this because I wanted a dress which is my go to choice of attire but it had to be one that was also casual and comfortable. And yes strapless can be comfortable! All you need is the right bra and you will be good to go. And the smocking in the bodice definitely helps keep everything in place. I also love the soft denim vibe in the fabric. These details combined with the tie at the waist and the perfect midi length made it a no brainer. And there is not one button or zipper on this dress, talk about comfort! Oh and did I mention it has pockets?
In terms of fit, it is actually pretty generous. I did consider sizing down but given that I am large in the bust I decided not too. If you are smaller up top you may want to consider sizing down. I am wearing the size 26/28.
In terms of styling I definitely wanted to give it a playful feel so I added some fun pops of colour and on trend accessories. First off there are these adorable sandals from Full Beauty. They are their house brand, Comfort View which is incredibly comfortable and comes in wide and extra wide widths. Ladies you keep asking me where I get my shoes and this is my main source. I love the textured floral details of these slides that are perfect for walking.
So if you pay attention this bag may look a little familiar to you but it’s just a different colour. Yep this is the same one that I had in my last post. I loved it so much that I had to have the two different colours. Aldo really has amazing accessories and bags and they always get my money lol. I loved the pop of bright green and the multi coloured pom poms against the soft blue of the dress. It is such a versatile bag that will go with so many different looks.
And we must talk about these flower earrings! They are from Xehar Curvy and I am absolutely in love with them. They make a statement but they are also really light weight. They were the perfect girly touch for this look. I then added these stack of multi coloured bangles from Lane Bryant to keep the colour theme going.
In the end I will fully admit that I am now completely in love with the seersucker trend and think I might have to look for a few more options for what is looking like it is going to be a hot summer.
This dress was provided care of Lane Bryant but all opinions are my own. xoxo
