Happy Tuesday everyone, I hope you had a fantastic weekend and the week if off to a good start. I am working a short week this week before I head out to Atlanta so I am pretty excited!
Today’s post features another look that Lane Bryant sent my way so that I could showcase the fabulous dress options that they have for spring and also one to the season’s hottest trends, gingham.
Gingham is showing up everywhere this spring – dresses, skirts, tops, shoes, bags and bathing suits, you name it I have seen it. And it’s also not only in classic colour combos like black and white or blue and white but also fun pops of colour like fuschia and yellow.
I love this print because it’s a classic and definitely has a retro vibe. It’s bold and sassy but clean and crisp. Seeing it makes me happy and carefree longing for those warm days of summer lounging with a picnic basket, a sweet tea and a cool breeze.
So of course it’s no surprise that I chose this dress when I was scrolling through LB’s current collection. A chance to be on trend with a retro twist in a dress? You know I couldn’t pass that up.
This dress is your classic fit and flare style with a high scoop neckline, empire waist and pleating in the skirt to give it a good amount of volume. It also has a slight high low hem, an exposed zipper in the back and pockets! You know until a few years ago you didn’t see pockets in dresses, especially in plus size. What did we do without them?
I love that this dress is cotton, a nice lightweight breathable fabric for those warm days. I am wearing the size 28 which is my standard size, particularly when there is no stretch. And the length is my favourite, just below the knee.
For months now I have been obsessed with all things blush. This pale dreamy version of pink has become a staple in my wardrobe. And I liked the idea of pairing it against the bold black and white graphic of this print.
I saw this necklace on LB’s site and I was immediately smitten with the idea of pink pearls in a dramatic piece made up of seven layers. This is sold out online but if you really want it make sure to check out your local store. I also gave you a link to a great alternative. It really plays on the girly retro playful feel of the dress.
To keep the blush theme going I added this set of bracelets in all shades and textures from Avenue along with these coordinating rosebud earrings also from Avenue. Avenue and Lane Bryant are hands down my two favourite plus retailers for accessories. I love the selection they offer and the fact that I know every piece is made to fit me.
Finally I added these cute blush flats that I had from Torrid and my go to blush clutch from Aldo. I gave you links for some current alternatives and let me tell you I am really tempted to buy the Betsey Johnson bag I found, it is super adorable and on sale.
You will notice that all of my accessories are slighty different in colour and keep in mind that’s okay because they are all from the same colour palette, they compliment each other but aren’t matchy matchy.
Well Lane Bryant you have done it again, my dress collection continues to grow! If I bring the picnic basket who wants to bring the sweet tea?
This look is provided care of Lane Bryant but all opinions are my own.
Thank you to Stef of SexyPlus Clothing for the beautiful photos.
