Happy Sunday my loyal blog fam, I hope you are having a great weekend so far. I thought I would give you a little relaxing weekend reading with a post today.
I have had some requests for outwear suggestions so I have a couple of options that I am going to share over the next couple of weeks. I will admit that shopping for outerwear when you are larger than a size 22 is definitely a challenge.
And what makes it more difficult is there is very limited selection and it doesn’t tend to be well tailored to our shapes. I also had some requests for some more casual looks so you are getting 2 for 1 in this post!
This look is all from various brands offered by Full Beauty. As a brand ambassador I have been really impressed with the selection that this marketplace has to offer and you simply can’t beat the number of brands they carry that have extended sizes that are available for one stop shopping.
I love this coat because it is a classic double breasted version that will never go out of style. But the mauve colour makes it fun and on trend. I love that it has front flap pockets that don’t add bulk to your hips and the second set of buttons is concealed.
It is made out of a polyester wool blend and is fully lined so it is a good weight and will keep you warm on those cold days. A jacket like this is very versatile because it can be worn with any look from something casual like I did here to something professional for the office.
I am wearing the size 34W in this jacket which is made by Roaman’s and I found the fit to be ok. I have found that I need to size up in Roaman’s pieces, particularly if they are more structured and lack stretch as they tend to run on the smaller side compared to other brands.
And as I find with any outerwear I purchase, it was a little big through the shoulders as I am much smaller on top than on the bottom and I always have to buy a jacket that fits my hips. I feel that it doesn’t take away from the look though as the overall style of the jacket is relaxed.
If you want to know what my go to casual look is, it is definitely leggings with a tunic or a skater style short dress. I honestly don’t know what I did before leggings came back in style but they better not go anywhere ever again!
For this look I tried the “Take Control Core Control Leggings” also by Roaman’s. For the winter I prefer a legging with a little more weight to it as I find they last longer and give you a better shape and coverage.
These leggings definitely fit the bill as they are made of a rayon/nylon/spandex ponte fabric blend that is not as heavy as a full ponte which I find can be too heavy. They have a wide flat waist band with mesh lining that provides extra control but is not too constricting. The leg is tapered appropriately so they provide a true legging fit and they help to smooth and shape.
I am wearing the size 5x in these. I was a little unsure as to what size to get based on the size chart and the challenges I have had with their sizing so I wanted to be on the safe side. In the future I would get a 4x. The 5x is too big in the waist and hips and I think the leg on the 4x would have enough stretch to work. If you are an apple shape I think you would be fine with your normal size.
You all know how much I love a good floral print so when I saw this tunic from Ellos USA and its shades of pink and grey I know it would work perfectly with this jacket. I absolutely love this piece! The print is fantastic and it is the perfect length for wearing with leggings.
It has a great v neckline and empire waist so it really emphasizes the smallest part of your body. The fabric is lightweight and soft. I am wearing the size 2x which based on their size chart is a 26/28 equivalent. I was very happy with the fit.
To finish this look off I added this super cute scarf and beret set that is from Fashion to Figure. I loved how it had the little gold beads on it and the scarf was perfect for the low neckline on the jacket.
I then added a simple pair of black flats from Vionic Orthaheel and my off white Coach bag. I loved how it played off the beret and scarf. A fun statement necklace from my collection completed my accessories. I like to keep things simple on the weekends.
So there you have it, a casual but fun cozy winter look that is perfect for every day life. An outfit can definitely be simple but still look put together. Add one perfect accessory and chose well made pieces that fit and you will always look polished.
Special thanks to Robert of Robert Skuja Photography for these beautiful photos.
