Happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and for my American friends and followers a fantastic thanksgiving break. Today is my 2nd instalment on the topic of bras – let`s face it, we love how the girls look in them but they certainly are a necessary evil for us gals. I mean I don`t know about you, but it is generally one of the first things I take off the minute I walk in the door.
For this post I am going to highlight the brand Curvy Couture Intimates. I had the pleasure of being introduced to this brand at The Curvy Con in June of this year as they were one of the vendors. I happened to be sitting at a table and struck up a conversation with someone that represented the brand and the next thing you know I was speaking with an expert and getting fitted for a bra.
I have to admit I was hesitant at first because their band width only goes up to a 44 and sometimes I need a 46. But I let the experts do their thing. Technically I did measure in at a 46 but Evora encouraged me to try one of their most popular styles in the 44. What was actually much more shocking was that at 41 and someone who prides herself on wearing a good fitting bra, I was wearing the wrong cup size! And ladies, I have been measured in the past. So off I went to try on this beautiful bra and when I came out, I couldn`t believe the difference. The fit was honestly beyond fantastic.
Everyone on the Curvy Couture team that I got to meet that day went above and beyond and took the time to answer all of my questions and listen to my feedback. I greatly appreciate a brand that listens to their customers. Curvy Couture is a long time manufacturer of bras for other brands such as Lane Bryant and Avenue but they only launched their own label a few years ago. They have been able to take everything they have learned from these years of experience and apply it to their designs. They also have a focus on designing innovative new products that will change the way woman think about bras.
For this post, I put 4 different styles to the test. They are all perfect for different occasions and needs depending on what outfit you are wearing. I really liked that their sizing was very consistent. I am wearing a 44DDD in all 4 styles. Their size range is from a 32 to 44 band and C to H cup. The size range for each bra will vary depending on the specific style.
I will be upfront and let you know that Curvy Couture is a high quality well made brand whose price point reflects this. The average price per bra is about $60 US. They do often have fantastic sales that you can take advantage of. I think this price point is fairly competitive with the regular prices of the major retailers.
I tried the following styles: the Tulip Lace Push Up Balconette in wineberry; the Lace Shine T-Shirt Bra in animal print; the Perfect Plunge in black; and the Convertible Spacer T-Shirt Bra in black.
The tulip lace is a fantastic everyday bra with pretty feminine details. It comes in a variety of colours including this gorgeous shade of plum that just came out, it has beautiful lace accents and a scalloped edge and a little rhinestone charm for some sparkle. You can also get the matching panties for this one. And surprisingly their sizing is quite generous – I was able to wear the XXXL which the size chart says is a 22/24 equivalent.
The lace shine is the perfect choice to wear under those tops that require a smooth look. Even the lace sides are undetectable. This bra has less lift then the balconette and provides a full coverage fit. If you aren’t a fan of a push up then this would be my recommendation.
I cannot tell you how much I love the perfect plunge. The name says it all, it really is perfect! I have this in both black and beige and it is a definite staple in my wardrobe for my V-neck and low cut tops and dresses. I have never seen a plunge bra that provides not only great lift but also keeps the girls in place, even when you are sitting down. And the cleavage factor is fantastic.
Finally I tried the convertible spacer because it is made with unique spacer fabric technology that is designed to ensure a second skin fit and conform to your body’s shape. It doesn’t have any foam or a moulded cup. It may feel a bit snug at first but after you wear it a few times the cups will give and naturally stretch and contour to you. It also has convertible straps that allow you to criss cross them in the back. This style is another option for a great every day basic.
Of course you know I couldn’t go without styling some looks around these gorgeous bras. I wanted to show you how great the plunge was for a low cut dress, how showing a little animal print can still be classy but sexy and how the balconette laid nice and flat underneath this tunic.
I believe that like the rest of your wardrobe, you should also invest in some higher quality undergarments that will last a long time in combination with your more budget friendly alternatives. And you know I also believe in brands that cater to an international clientele, so good news ladies – Curvy Couture ships internationally!
They are currently having a Cyber Week Sale – 20% off everything so be sure to check them out!
