Happy Tuesday peeps! I hope you all had a Happy Halloween.
It’s Melissa McCarthy Seven7 week here on the blog and I couldn’t be more excited to share with you some of the amazing pieces I have picked up from her Fall collection.
It has officially been over a year now since her collection was launched and she has definitely taken the fashion world by storm, particularly in the plus size arena. And I really feel like the brand has evolved with each season and that she is really listening to what her customers have to say.
She has expanded the number of retailers that carry her collection making it more accessible, she has improved the fit which was pretty fantastic to begin with and most important to me, she has expanded her size range offering at both Lane Bryant and on her website to include a 4x and up to size 28. And for those of you on the smaller end of the size range who were maybe finding the 1x too big, Penningtons now offers a size X in her pieces.
This first look that I chose is all about some of the seasons hottest trends, leather and texture. These pieces are totally bad ass and can be styled in so many different ways to meet your many different moods and occasions. I first saw Melissa wearing these pieces on their Instagram page and website and immediately fell in love.
These cropped faux leather ponte pants are an absolute dream. I love how the design is practical yet stylish. The faux leather panels are in the front where you want to see them but you have the practicality of the ponte fabric in the back. Not only does it provide some stretch but then you don’t have to sit on faux leather which in my mind is not exactly the most comfortable.
I also really appreciate that she thinks about the little things like pockets. Pockets are a practical feature in pants but for me depending on the placement, they can be a real nightmare as the fabric will pull or they won’t lay right. I mean I don’t have a flat tummy! These pockets are side slits right on the seam and they fall perfectly. I am wearing the 4x in these pants and I was really happy with the fit.
Ok so now we need to talk about this vest! I don’t think I can honestly describe how much I absolutely love this piece. Wearing it will make you feel like a million bucks. I totally see myself killing a client meeting in this. Its strong and powerful yet feminine and pretty.
It is made out of a high quality scuba fabric with this amazing texture that drapes beautifully. The shawl collar is oversized to provide a dramatic flare and it has a curved hem that is longer in the back than the front which makes for a flattering and interesting silhouette.
This vest would look equally fantastic with a pencil skirt or over a sheath dress. I am wearing the 4x which is my standard Melissa size and felt it was a true fit.
I decided to pair these pieces with a pop of colour in this blouse from eShakti. This is an older piece that I had in my closet that was custom made to my measurements. The bow neckline is also another popular trend for Fall and I felt it worked perfectly with this look and kept it sophisticated. I did decide to wear it loose though to compliment the vest.
This look is pretty dramatic on its own so I kept my accessories simple by adding my favourite patent wedges from Simply Be, a statement earring from Aldo, mixed metallic bangles from Penningtons and another pop of colour in this Citron bag from Coach with of course my signature, a coordinating bag scarf.
So there you have it, a polished look that will take you anywhere you want to go in style and comfort. Stay tuned for more Melissa looks this week.
Thanks to Robert of Robert Skuja Photography for capturing this look.
