Happy Saturday everyone, I hope you are relaxing and enjoying the weekend.
Today’s post features the last look of my Avenue Look Book and I am featuring a completely casual outfit. More casual looks has been something that you have requested from me so I hope you like this one and there will be more to see in the coming months so stay tuned.
As a professional I can only wear my casual looks on evenings and weekends but I love to wear my sweats and be casual just as much as anyone else I know. And I have found that Avenue has an array of great casual options to choose from.
A few years ago I would have never been caught dead in public in leggings or any other type of form fitting pant. I just felt so self conscious about my thighs. But the day I decided to try leggings was a truly freeing experience because let’s face it – not only do they look great but they are beyond comfy!
So well I started to rock my black leggings on a regular basis, I still shied away from anything with a print or bold colour which has been a huge trend in the last year. So again as I wrote about earlier this year, I put my big girl panties on and overcame this fear and haven’t looked back. I love colour so rocking colourful fun pants has been a welcome addition to my wardrobe.
Obviously when I saw that these ponte knit jeans that I have been wanting to try from Avenue came in teal, I had to choose that colour. After all, teal is one of my favourite colours. If you carry a lot of weight in your lower half and are more of a pear shape like me, you will love these pants! They look like a skinny jean but they are made of this amazing soft and stretchy ponte fabric.
The colour is so rich and vibrant and with a true zip up waist they make you feel like you are wearing pants with the comfort of leggings. The pockets in the front are fake which I actually like because I find that sometimes they don’t sit right on me with real ones in the back to give that booty the extra lift.
These pants come in a variety of colours and in the full size range from 14 to 32. They also come in petite, average and tall lengths which is a great feature. I am wearing the size 32 average and based on my normal Avenue size I felt they were true to size. And ladies they do hold their shape and don’t stretch out!
I chose this top to pair with these pants because the broken glass pattern matched the pants perfectly and yes ladies it is okay if you like to match, because as much as I like to try different things like print mixing and unexpected colour combos I will always love a perfectly coordinated effort. Maybe that shows my age a bit but I am keeping it real. It’s just like when they give me a hard time at the nail salon because I like the colour on my toes to match my nails – Lisa that’s so old school they tell me lol.
This shirt is perfect for a casual look, it is practical with its 3/4 length sleeves and v neckline and the basket weave criss cross pattern under the bust is very flattering. I also liked the length of this top, it wasn’t too short or too long. I am wearing the size 30/32. I could have potentially sized down in this but I wanted it to be loose.
And with the colder weather arriving I decided to pair it with this grey chevron quilted vest. I don’t wear a jacket for most of the year as I am always hot so a piece like this is a great layering option for me with a long sleeve top. I loved the pattern on this vest and the practicality of it. And the fact that the sides are actually knit is genius because it hugs your body so much better and is not so bulky.
I am wearing the size 30/32 and I felt the fit was very generous. I could easily wear a bulky sweater underneath in the colder months. And this is wear I chose to have a little fun with the colour and not choose black which would have been the logical choice for this look. Metallic pieces are totally neutrals and look perfect with any outfit.
To accessorize this look I chose a pair of Avenue flats that I already had in my closet in pewter to play on the colour of the vest. I have provided a link to the current version of these shoes that Avenue has available, the only difference is there is no strap. Its the perfect shoe for a long day full of errands or adventures, whatever you choose.
Finally I added the bracelets I wore in my previous two looks which I absolutely love along with the coordinating necklace. I liked how the array of fall colours popped against the blue. Then I grabbed this amazing charging wristlet and I was ready to go.
So there you have it everyone, 3 different but equally great looks in my opinion from a brand that really is catering to the everyday needs of the plus size woman. Their mission resonates with me on a personal level, especially this excerpt – “At Avenue® we believe in loving your clothes; loving your style – but above all, loving yourself”.
I can’t wait to hear which look is your favourite and why!
This look was provided care of Avenue but all opinions are my own.
