Happy Wednesday everyone, I hope you are all doing well and having a fantastic week so far.
Today on the blog we are going to talk about a great transitional dress that I found for Fall and my struggle to find a pair of boots that fit my calves.
So I don’t know about you but I have been finding the weather the last month and a half to be very unpredictable. It’s 26 degrees Celsius today which doesn’t exactly make you want to break out the Fall wardrobe. Add to that the fact that my internal thermostat is always running hot and you can guess where my cute new Fall looks are – in the closet!
As a result I have really been looking out for great transitional pieces this year. While looking through the Full Beauty website I found this super cute dress and it was on clearance.
What I love about this dress is it’s easy and laid back vibe. It is made out a super comfy and lightweight crinkle gauze fabric with a generous trapeze style silhouette.
And it has a button front that actually stays closed. Combine these elements with the V-neck, 3/4 quarter sleeves and high low hem and you have yourself a winner in my books.
A black and white print is perfect all year long and the fun oversized floral print adds to its laid back feel. This dress is by Denim 24/7 which is part of the Roaman’s family of brands. They offer a great selection of casual pieces that are perfect for your every day wardrobe.
Another great thing about this brand is that many of their styles are available in size M to 5X or size 14 to 40! I am wearing the size 3X and I thought the fit was generous. Overall though I am finding that I wear one size larger for most Full Beauty brands as the size 3X is the equivalent of a 30/32. You should keep this in mind when shopping their site.
Now we have to talk about these boots I am wearing. No matter how many extra wide calf options I find nothing is ever wide enough for my left calf. We all have insecurities about our bodies no matter how confident we are and this is definitely one for me.
I have what I would describe as a bump that sits just below my knee. And it just so happens that the top of a tall boot falls right over my bump. Therefore, I need a boot that has a 24 inch circumference.
Some of you might think this doesn’t sound too bad but when you combine it with the fact that I only wear a 8 1/2 size shoe, it definitely is a problem! You see as your shoe size increases, the size of the boot shaft also increases. So if I was a size 10 shoe I could make something work.
So while I do have some cute booties I am the one with a sad face when I see all the cute boots come out for Fall knowing that I can’t wear them. So when I was looking at the Comfort View line of boots through Full Beauty, I noticed that they had these boots that had a smaller shaft height.
I am wearing the Heather boot in this amazing shade of teal blue. So not only was I able to find a boot that fits my calf but they also came in such a fun colour. The shaft on these boots is only 10 1/2 inches whereas most tall boots are about 14 inches. As a result I didn’t even need an extra wide calf but just a wide calf.
I love these boots because they only have a small 1 inch heel with a supportive grip along with the fact that they come in half sizes and 3 widths. And the straps and bow detail are nice added touches. I am wearing an 8 1/2 which appears to be my standard size in Comfort View. Man do I love consistency in fit!
To accessorize this look I chose to continue to play up the pop of blue in the boots by adding my oldie but goodie Teal Phoebe bag from Coach and some blue and gold accessories from Lane Bryant.
And I had to add what is now one of my favourite new accessories – my Seal Island Five Wrap Bracelet from Boho Betty USA. I love how truly versatile this piece is, I have been able to wear it with so many different looks. Finally I added my obi belt from Lane Bryant to cinch my waist in.
So while I am still on the quest for some full height tall boots that fit me I will wear these boots with pride and won’t have to feel like I am missing out quite as much. And yes you may think that they emphasize the bump on my calf but I have learned to let that go because it is a part of me but doesn’t define who I am nor should it limit my fashion choices.
