Happy Thursday peeps, it’s the end of the work week for me as I am taking tomorrow off to go and see Adele, woohoo! Let’s just say I am beyond excited!!!
So today I am dropping my 3rd look from the new Christian Siriano fall collection for Lane Bryant.
So this look is all about that dress that Danielle Brooks rocked on the runway for his first collection with Lane Bryant in the spring. When it was revealed that this particular dress wasn’t part of the actual collection, let’s just say that there were more than a few disappointed fashionistas out there including myself.
But thankfully our voices were heard and I was ecstatic to see it appear in the Fall collection in white. Actually the very first time I laid eyes on the dress was seeing the beautiful Ashley Max-Dixon, a fit model for Lane Bryant rock it when she closed out the runway show at Lane Bryant’s corporate convention last month.
I had the chance to meet Ashley at FFF Week and saw her kill the runway at the finale show. She is not only beautiful but a wife, mom of 4 and a photographer. She is definitely someone to watch. I loved how happy and proud she was being chosen to wear this dress in that runway show that every time I look at it, I immediately think of her. So Ashley, this post is inspired by you.
This dress is an amazing combination of femininity and sensuality. Yes there is a thigh high slit and a deep v neck line but there is also billowing dramatic sleeves, lovely pleating at the waist and an A line cut to the skirt. I love this because it allows you to choose when you show a little leg or maybe a lot!
Like all of Christian’s pieces, the fabric is beautiful and drapes over your curves wonderfully. It is fully lined and the lining is sewn in so you don’t see it. I am wearing the size 28 and I felt the fit was perfect. I am 5’6 and wearing a heel with it so if you are on the shorter side you will find that you will need to get it hemmed.
When I was trying to decide how I would style this dress, I was very undecided because it was white and it is Fall. It would make an amazing wedding dress for someone that is looking for something less traditional or doing a destination wedding.
But funny enough I ended up being inspired by this scarf, that is also from Lane Bryant that I recently shot in another post. Scarves are a huge trend this fall and I loved the idea that this one had white in it but also brought in a pop of my purple, my favourite colour. Given the deep plunging neckline I thought it was a great alternative to a necklace.
From the colour palette of the scarf I decided to go with these black and gold earrings and leather cuff bracelet also from LB. You might notice that I have been wearing these quite a bit lately and that is because they are probably my favourite new pieces and happen to go with so much.
Playing to my love of all things floral, I then added these floral sling back heels from Zappos. They are by Bella-Vita and I absolutely love the print and the colour palette. What I like about their shoes is that they make wide widths and block heels that provide more support.
And to bring some bad ass attitude to the look I had to add 3 essential pieces – my purple hat from American Apparel, my new peplum moto jacket from LB (more about this in another post) and last but certainly not least my new custom clutch from Cameo de Bore.
Have you seen this clutch? Can we talk about just how ah-mazing it is? I have featured Cameo’s clutches on the blog before and let me tell you she doesn’t fail to disappoint. I am always amazed at her innovative designs and the new materials she uses. I mean Lucite initials and brushed chrome with black leather? Heck yes!!!
Honestly I felt so amazing and powerful in this look. And that’s why I love fashion – because it is such an amazing form of self expression and allows us to explore different sides of our persona. And let’s face it, when we are having a bad day, doesn’t feeling pretty in a cute outfit help make you feel better?
Stay tuned as I am actually wearing this dress to an event tonight and will be styling it completely differently!
Thanks to Robert of Robert Skuja Photography for bringing my vision to life. No matter what I throw at him, he always makes it work.
