Happy Thursday everyone, I hope you are having a fantastic week!
For today’s post we are going to take a look at another brand that I found through Full Beauty, Ellos. Ellos is a Scandinavian based brand that focuses on providing modern and effortless fashion in sizes 10 to 34 US and S to 5X. A 5x is size 38/40.
Sizes above a 28 and 3x are not necessarily available in everything but there is a good selection in these sizes. At a minimum, items go up to a size 28. Ladies, this is such an amazing size range!
This month, Ellos has officially launched their own US website and is making quite a splash already with promotional events and their official launch party this past week in NYC. As you know I am always on the hunt for a new brand that carries extended sizes and I am definitely impressed with their selection of quality fashion forward and basic pieces.
Most of you probably know that I am not a fan of a traditional blazer nor do I think that one is required to look professional. But I do like to have a few in my wardrobe for those days when A. – I really do need to wear one for work or B. – I just feel like wearing something different.
I am wearing the Shawl Collar Blazer in Black Floral. What I liked about this blazer is that it was very lightweight, the same as a blouse so I wouldn’t get too hot and its boyfriend style relaxed feel. This contrasted with the beautiful dark floral print which is a must have trend for Fall really appealed to me.
I wasn’t sure about fit so I went with the size 3x (30/32) and I was generally happy with the fit. I would consider in the future sizing up one more size to have it be a little bit oversized. I think again you need to pay attention to the style because in this case it is a pretty boxy style so it wouldn’t naturally accommodate my pear shape in my typical size.
And to be perfectly honest, I could care less because in this case because I actually have the option to size up, in fact I could size up 2 sizes if I wanted to! There are not many brands where I have that opportunity.
I decided to roll up the sleeves on this jacket and paired it with a really feminine silky camisole in slate grey with a touch of lace. This is from Denim 24/7, another brand available on Full Beauty. They carry sizes 12 to 32 and S to 5x. The description indicated that this had a relaxed silhouette with a slight A-line cut so I ordered the size 32 hoping that it would be a little roomy.
I have to say I was disappointed in the sizing on this piece. There was more than enough room in the bust and shoulders but the hips were just a little tight. It is perfect to wear tucked in but I couldn’t wear it lose which I was hoping to.
I finished this look off with something that I pulled out of my closet, this pleated blush skirt from Torrid. It was a great contrast against the boxy shape of the jacket and provided that splash of colour. Sadly this skirt is no longer available but I did provide you with a very similar one that is available at JC Penny through their Ashley Nell Tipton and their Boutique + line.
To accessorize this look I decided to keep things pretty simple and still play up the femininity. These flats are an old pair that I got from Simply Be USA but I was able to find you a cute alternative on Full Beauty. I like the bow and the hint of sparkle. And they are super comfortable.
I then added some more blush accessories in these earrings, necklace and bracelet all from Torrid and finally my stone coloured Coach bag with studs.
Wearing a blazer doesn’t have to be or feel stuffy, it can also be casual and chic and professional too.
Thank you to Robert of Robert Skuja Photography for capturing this look.
