Happy Tuesday everyone, I hope you had a great day and yeah, tomorrow is hump day!
Today I am featuring this extra special dress that I came across in August that I just love so much. And yes it is from Lane Bryant which I know I have been featuring a lot lately, but what can I say? I buy the pieces that I truly love!
So this is totally one of those pieces that if you saw it on the website I am almost positive that you would simply keep on scrolling and never give it a second thought. And what is really sad is that it is an online only piece so it is not available in stores which I personally think it should have been so you could see it’s true beauty.
I originally did scroll past it myself and then a picture of the dress with the zippers open on the side popped up on the screen and I was intrigued. I always like to be supportive of the models that any plus size brand uses but this is one piece where I personally think it is hard to tell what it will look like on someone who is at the higher end of the size range.
But being the no risk, no rewards person I am and armed with my real women dollars I decided to give it a try. And needless to say this baby did not get returned lol.
It is a classic trapeze shape which is essentially like a triangle. I love the colour blocking with the black and white and the high rounded neck. It was a different silhouette for me that I really enjoyed wearing.
But the best part is of course unzipping the sides to find this bold geometric print pattern. The combination of the print and the exposed zippers gives the look some edge and sass.
You could also easily through a cute moto jacket over top to help spice things up. I was really happy with the fit on this dress, I am wearing the size 26/28. And did I mention, it has pockets?
I decided to accessorize this look with the thought of attending an event. I think it would be a perfect wedding guest look.
I started with these beaded sandals from Avenue that are dressy but practical for me with only a small wedge heel. And these babies are on sale for a total steal right now so I would grab them while you can.
I then added this trio of silver accessories that I have discussed in a previous post from Lane Bryant. Geometric and metallic accessories are a hot trend for Fall and I love the combination of these pieces, they make for a bold statement look.
Finally I had to add a pop of colour with this amazing printed clutch from Simply Be USA. I love the combination of the orange and fuchsia with the silver, black and white.
Ultimately I think everyone knows that I like to make a statement but if you aren’t as adventurous as me I wanted to show you that you can still do it in classic colours like black and white and in a more conservative silhouette.
Thanks to Stefanie of Stefanie Augusteijn Photography for the beautiful photos.
