Happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and survived the start of the week. I know I sure am feeling it lol.
In today’s post I am bidding farewell to summer with one final awesome dress post that I couldn’t resist. I had coveted this dress for months, saw it sell out more than once, only to be lucky enough to have it back in stock again and on sale.
This is the Hot Summer Days Printed Maxi Dress from City Chic USA. From head to toe I would describe this as a “Lisa” dress. Every detail speaks to my personal sense of style.
Of course I think it is a given that I love the vivid rich eye catching print in the colours of the rainbow. But I really love that it has a v neckline, adjustable straps, a great fit and flare shape, maxi length but with a little bit of a high low hem and shirring at the waist that draws the eye in but is also super comfy. And last but certainly not least, the fabric is lightweight and flowy.
I have certainly come to love City Chic USA dresses over the last year and a half. They are a brand that technically only carries up to a size 24 or XXL but they do state in their fit guidelines that it will fit a 24/26. I have personally found their sizing to be very generous. I am wearing the XXL and there was plenty of room in it.
And I was even more excited when I decided to try a more body conscious style recently and the fit was fantastic. I think if it is made of a fabric that has some stretch you are good to go. Plus I would say there sizing is also very consistent which allows me to shop with confidence.
I find that what I often have to do is adjust the straps because if not there is way too much chest on display. That’s why I really appreciate it when the straps are adjustable like they are here. As always I wish that the straps were a little thicker so that you can’t see my bra strap so much if you want to wear a regular bra. Although I am learning to let go of not wanting to show my bra strap more and more.
Because the colours are so rich in this dress I definitely wanted to keep the accessories neutral and chose to go with a rich gold. I wanted to wear a simple comfy shoe so I chose my gold Vionic Orthaheel slides which are a go to summer staple for me.
I then added this oldie but goodie necklace from Penningtons and bracelet from Avenue. I always like to keep a stash of the basics on hand, you never know when they will be the perfect finishing touch for an outfit.
Finally I added a pop of red in this patent leather clutch from Nine West. I love how the light hit it when we shot this look. You could choose a clutch of any colour in this dress and it would look fantastic.
I decided to post this look now even if I am supposed to be slaying in all my Fall fashion because let’s be real, it is still hot where I am (I mean we had heat advisories for like 3 days last week!) and I am not ready to be rocking my fall looks. Not to mention I would melt and it wouldn’t be pretty lol.
I just wore this dress last weekend for date night and it really reminded me of Fall and the colours of the changing leaves. You could easily through on a shrug, cardigan or blazer and a closed in shoe and transition it into Fall.
Stay tuned as the Fall looks are on their way. And if you still are holding onto summer like me, you will still see some summer pieces as my #ootd on Instagram.
Special thanks to Robert of Robert Skuja Photography for these amazing shots. It was super hot and sunny the day we shot this but he still captured the magic.
