Happy Friday everyone, I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
Today’s post features a look from one of my favourite local boutiques, SexyPlus Clothing that carries one of my favourite brands for cocktail and event attire, Kiyonna.
When I stopped in to visit recently at SexyPlus, I came across this dress on the rack and was immediately drawn to the rich blue teal like colour. It reminded me of the deep ocean waters that I love from my many trips to the Caribbean.
I tried the dress on and instantly I was in love. As I have come to know and love from Kiyonna, the cut and fit were perfection. They really have a knack for choosing silhouettes that work for the curvy woman and accentuate our assets.
I also love that their sizing is very consistent. I am confident in choosing their pieces because I know that they will fit. I am wearing my typical Kiyonna size, a 4x.
This dress is the Lavish Lace Dress. It is the perfect combination of femininity and style all in one. I love the detail of the gathering which sits at your natural waist which will help camouflage any tummy insecurities you may have. And the neckline is stunning with its criss cross v neck shape.
Then there is the gorgeous illusion lace with three quarter sleeves. An illusion neckline is perfect for showing a little skin and adding a hint of sexiness but still keeping it classy and versatile for many different occasions. And the lace is of course very feminine. Top it off with a universally flattering A-line skirt and a crepe like material that falls beautifully and I think you just might have the perfect dress.
And short of sounding like a broken record – ladies don’t be afraid to steer away from black! Even if you don’t have a lot of events you would wear a cocktail dress to, there is nothing wrong with investing in something with colour. A rich colour like this is actually perfect because it can be worn in any season.
Plus if you don’t get to dress up very often, don’t you want to feel extra special and maybe stand out a bit from the sea of black you typically might find? I think you know that this is usually my preference lol.
I wanted to keep the overall feeling of this look classic and sophisticated so I paired it with a nude patent sling back heel from Zappos. What I like about this shoe is that it has a block heel so if you are not used to wearing heels it provides more stability.
Of course my favourite part is adding some bling and I had just recently purchased this statement necklace and matching earrings from Torrid. When I brought the dress home I knew immediately that although it was the same colour palette that it would just pop against the dress. I love the drama that it adds.
I then added an antique colour gold bracelet that played off the necklace from Lane Bryant and a small purple clutch that it one of my oldies but goodies. And finally I swept my hair up to show the full effect of the neckline and jewelry.
So fall is coming and I am ready for whatever event I have next on my plate. Wedding season will still be in full swing, charity galas will start to come up and before you know it Christmas party season will be upon us.
If you live in the Greater Toronto Area and want the opportunity to shop in store, please go and see Stefanie at SexyPlus. She not only has a great selection of cocktail dresses but she has a lot of sexier and casual options too at varying price points. And the personal attention you will receive will make it a shopping experience to remember.
And if you don’t live close? SexyPlus ships to the US and internationally with great rates. Plus you can always give Stefanie and call and she will help you make a decision on sizing and fit. Rest assured, you will be in good hands.
On another note, I want to take a quick minute to wish Kiyonna, Happy Anniversary! They are currently celebrating 20 years of helping plus size woman look and feel fabulous. Congrats!
