Happy Wednesday everyone, I hope you are having a fantastic week! Today’s post is all about this gorgeous shirt that I got while I was in NYC for FFF Week and the Curvy Con – and OMG it’s from Beth Ditto’s line!!!!
I was so excited to have the opportunity to visit the Hey Gorgeous showroom when I was in NYC when we attended an event for FFF Week. I also had the chance to sit down with Co-Founder and President Aimee Cheshire to learn what the brand is all about.
Aimee is a fellow Canadian and it was great to hear of her story about transitioning to life in the big city of NYC and how Hey Gorgeous came to be. What makes them stand out is their focus on offering the plus size woman unique quality pieces from various designers that fit and allow you to express your unique sense of style and individual personality. They also work with indie designers which I love because I personally feel they are really changing the plus size landscape.
At the Curvy Con, Hey Gorgeous provided us with the opportunity to try on and buy pieces from the various lines they carry. It was such a great experience to see the clothes in person and to be able to try them on and know how they fit etc.
I have been in love with the Beth Ditto collection since it came out. The bold colours and prints attracted me immediately and I was beyond impressed that it came in size 26/28. The price point is a little higher so I was a little hesitant to buy it online without knowing how the fit was.
When I saw it on the rack at the Hey Gorgeous booth I was blown away. The pieces certainly didn’t disappoint in person and the quality of the fabrics was superb. And the fit was generous. All of this sold me on the higher price point. Don’t be afraid to invest in some key or unique pieces in your wardrobe, they can be mixed and matched with more affordable options.
I chose the Summerweight Tee in the Eat Your Makeup Print. I am wearing the size 26/28. I knew when I bought the piece that I wanted to make the look really special. It had to do the shirt and the print justice. So it did take me some time to figure out what I was going to style it with. There was so many colours to choose from that your options really were endless and then I realized I wanted to go down the route of the unexpected and highlight the soft pink in the shirt that was amongst all the other bold colours.
So I pulled my pink Society+ skater skirt out of the closet and that is how this look was born. I loved the combination of the two pieces and the day I wore this look I felt so fabulous and received a tonne of compliments. It’s such a fun look.
I made my necklace my one statement accessory piece, an oldie but goodie from my collection that played off the blue and green in the top perfectly. I simply added a simple gold slide and some sunnies and the look was complete.
I always say wear what you love and makes you happy and this look does this for me in spades.
Special thank you to Stefanie Augusteijn Photography for the beautiful photos.
