Happy Tuesday my blogger fam! I hope you had an awesome weekend.
This week on the blog we are going to have two posts that show how I took an outfit that I selected from a brand that I didn’t like together and made it work by creating a separate look for each piece.
In the plus size world we are only option can often be to shop online. And well I am very comfortable with shopping online and have learned a lot over the years in terms of dos and don’ts’s, sometimes even I end I with something arriving in the mail that I don’t love in person or that just doesn’t fit.
In this case I chose this super cute pencil skirt from Loft2B a new brand located in Los Angeles. They are size inclusive offering from a small to 3x and they just introduced a coordinating kids line with their latest collection.
This is the Isabella Infinity Metal Zipper Rouched Skirt in teal. This skirt is made of heavier jersey fabric that gives you a nice clean line. The zipper is fully functional so you can choose to unzip it and show a little leg if you like.
It is also a very durable zipper so I appreciated the use of high quality materials. And the rouching helps to highlight your curves.
This skirt is also unique in that you can choose to wear the zipper in the front or back. And I loved that it hit me right at the knee. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this skirt on as I was nervous about the fit given the shape but the fabric has great stretch and the 3x was perfect.
So while I loved the skirt I didn’t love how it looked with the coordinating top that I had chosen. I don’t typically wear such form fitting skirts and since I am bottom heavy I felt like it needed a top that would balance me out. I realized that a peplum would work perfectly.
Since a peplum is one of my go to silhouettes, I looked through the closet and found this one from Torrid. I loved the fact that it too had a zipper accent and a textured fabric.
And the length was perfect for the skirt. This shirt is an older one but I put some links below for some similar ones. I am wearing a 4x in this.
I styled this look with date night in mind. I added a blinged out pair of sandals from Avenue, a mixed metallic and black clutch from Aldo Accessories and a statement necklace from Amadora Designs Jewels and a mixed metallic bracelet from Avenue.
I love these sandals because they are comfortable yet still stylish with the added bling and tiny heel. The clutch and bracelet combine the various metals that exist throughout the entire look and adds some edge and finally the necklace makes the whole look pop.
So I am ready for dinner and drinks and maybe some dancing too?
Stay tuned for my next post to see how I styled the coordinating top.
Thanks to Robert of Robert Skuja Photography for the beautiful photos.
