Hi everyone, I hope you had a fantastic weekend!
Today’s post features a dress from one of my go to brands – SWAK Designs.
When the summer look book was released I was immediately drawn to this dress because of the pale mint background against the vibrant tropical print. I also loved that it was a wrap dress.
Of course this meant that I had to have it and I was certainly not disappointed when it arrived in the mail. The Lani Wrap Dress is made of a really soft jersey fabric, it falls just below the knee right where I like it and there is more than enough room to wrap the dress properly around my hips!
To me there is nothing worse than a wrap dress that is not cut properly to account for us girls who have larger hips and thighs, I hate when the dress opens up!
The only thing that I would change is I wish the straps were adjustable and a little wider so they could be bra friendly. I found that I needed to shorten them. I am wearing the 4x in this dress but I would suggest actually sizing down as I found the fit to be quite generous.
So a few followers have asked me how to tie this dress. I must admit that I was a bit stumped when I first put it on but it is simply because the ties are very generous in length which can make it a bit tricky. But it works like any traditional wrap dress – you put the inside piece’s tie through the whole on the side and wrap it around the back of you and bring it to the side. You then bring the front piece to the same side and have the two ties meet up.
Now depending on how long the ties are on you, you may have to wrap the tie from the front piece all the way around you and bring it back across to the side again, creating a double layer. This is what I had to do.
As with any wrap dress you want to make sure that it is tightly secured but not too tight so that you can’t breathe. It does help if you do it in front of a mirror.
This dress is perfect for that tropical vacation or weekend getaway or summer barbeques and parties. It will keep you cool and looking great.
I chose to pair this dress with some fun accessories to keep it cute and light. And you know I am never afraid to mix it up with some colour.
My sandals are one of my favourite pairs I have bought this summer, these cute turquoise blue and silver thong ones from Avenue. They are super comfortable but still fashionable.
I then decided to go with a statement earring from Amadora Designs Jewels, a fabulous locally owned online boutique that makes beautiful custom pieces as well as offering a curated collection of fabulous premade pieces. These were a gift from a friend but be sure to check out her site for many other great options.
A few multi coloured bracelets from Torrid and a simple turquoise wristlet from Coach were the final touches to this look. Oh and I can’t forget my new sunnies from Christian Siriano for Lane Bryant.
So here I am looking all cute – anyone have a bbq or party I can attend?
Special thanks to Robert of Robert Skuja Photography for the fabulous photos.
