Happy Wednesday everyone, I hope you are having a fabulous week!
Today’s post is about some new things that I decided to try out recently.
All things denim has been a huge trend this spring and going into summer. I have never been one to wear a denim skirt or dress or even shirt as I have struggled with finding ones that fit and I can’t wear it to work except on Fridays.
But I saw this gorgeous dress from Eloquii, I fell in love and I had to throw my normal tendencies out the window. Because not only was this dress denim but on my god it has a cut out!
Again cut outs are another must have trend right now that I haven’t really tried because for me it limits where I can wear a piece. But sometimes a piece is just special and doesn’t have to be as versatile as the rest of your wardrobe.
Ladies it okay to buy a piece because it is trendy right now or it is something you would never normally wear. Fashion is supposed to be fun and adventurous and if we limit ourselves we will miss out on so many opportunities to live in the now.
So while I might not be showing up to the office in this beauty, I will certainly be wearing it out for date night or an evening with the girls.
What I love about this dress is the fact that the material has stretch so while it is denim it hugs your curves in all the right places. It also has a gently flared silhouette which accommodates my pear shape and wide straps that allow me to wear a regular bra.
I also love the side vents for ease of sitting down and the fact that it falls just below my knee. The sweetheart neckline and cut out at the waist are that little bit of sex appeal that brings the dress to the next level.
I will be honest and say I do struggle with fit sometimes when it comes to shopping Eloquii but I felt the fit on this dress was very generous. I am wearing the size 28 and it is a little big in the bust area but fit my lower half perfectly. This was great because their more form fitting pieces can be snug on my body type.
I decided to pair this dress with another unexpected purchase I had made recently – this neon pink jacket from Torrid. I struggle with finding jackets that fit but I tend to have good luck with ones from Torrid.
When I saw this jacket I liked that it was made of a light weight fabric and was just a clean simple design with no zippers or buttons. I normally wear a size 5 in jackets from Torrid but I had to size down to a 4 in this one because the fit was very generous.
I have to admit when I ordered this online the colour did not look neon. So when I went to the store to pick up my orders and saw it on display I was a little shocked at how bright it was.
But again, neon colours are also a huge trend for spring and summer and once I tried it on I just couldn’t resist. It is so much fun! And it totally pops against the denim.
To accessorize this look I played to the strong neon colour and went with this stunner of a statement necklace from Gilded Official. This piece is absolutely amazing, it’s not too heavy and the colours are so rich and vibrant.
I then added this multi colour stone bracelet from Torrid, gold gladiator sandals from Lane Bryant and a cute rectangular pattern wristlet by Kate Spade. The wristlet ended up being a source of inspiration for combining the dress with the jacket.
Overall I was so happy with the risks I had taken that allowed me to pull this look together. It is fun and sassy and a great reflection of me.
Special thanks to Robert of Robert Skuja Photography for the fabulous photos.
