Happy Thursday peeps, I hope you are ready for the weekend! Here in Canada it is the first long weekend of the summer and I can’t wait for a little extra R&R.
So this post features the last piece that I purchased from the Christian Siriano for Lane Bryant collection – The Animal Print Dress.
This dress has been one of the most popular pieces from the collection, several bloggers wore it to the fashion show at the United Nations and it was one of the early advertised pieces.
Animal print never seems to go out of style and while it has grown on me in the last year what I really like about this particular print is the fact that it is black, white and grey with hints of teal to make it pop. I don’t wear a lot of browns and beiges so this side of the animal print scale resonates with me more.
I feel like this dress has a retro vibe to it with the ruffled neckline and hemline and it’s A-line silhouette. It definitely brought out my sassy side.
As with the other pieces I purchased I feel that the construction and quality of the garment are excellent. It is made of a beautiful cotton sateen fabric and it has pockets! You can choose to wear the dress strapless or with straps. And the straps have 2 button holes so that you can adjust the length as needed.
It also has silicone at the neckline to keep it from slipping. This is a nice extra touch and is great to keep that ruffle in place and looking crisp. I think that the v shape hemline is very flattering and adds interest to the dress and the dress does come with a belt. I chose to add one from my collection that has a bow just to change things up a bit.
As I mentioned in my other post I was nervous about the sizing but I am wearing the size 28 in this dress and I felt like the other 2 I purchased that it is true to size. So while I am thrilled with the fit of my dresses I did order 2 other outfits – the Organza Plaid Circle Skirt with the Cropped Tee and the Houndstooth Pencil Skirt with the One Shoulder Drama Top and much to my disappointment, the fit on these pieces was poor except for the tee.
I absolutely loved the Organza skirt but the issue is that the lining is fitted but the fabric has no give. So if you are a pear shape like me it just didn’t fit but the outer layer and waist in a 28 were perfect. They definitely needed to make the lining out of the same material they did for the pink and black dress.
I found the pencil skirt to have no give and was cut very small. You would definitely need to size up in it. I can’t tell you how disappointed I was about the drama top. The size 28 fits me but the peplum bottom I feel is cut a little small, it just doesn’t lie flat like it should. But I guess we can’t always have it all!
For the launch of the collection, Lane Bryant had a promotion that if you spent $75 you got a free pair of Christian’s sunnies. Well these classic cat eye limited edition beauties certainly do not disappoint! They come in black and a dark wine colour and are simply divine. I loved how they paired with the feel of this dress.
To accessorize this dress I added silver tones with some hits of teal. Because of the neckline I chose some long earrings from ICING and then I added a silver cuff from Avenue as well as a couple of bangles.
I then added these super comfortable and stylish sandals from Avenue. I absolutely love Avenue’s selection of sandals, especially the Cloud Walker line. They are well made, priced affordably, wide width and have so many cute options for us gals that can’t or don’t like to wear heels.
Finally I wanted an extra special pop of colour so I added my bright pink clutch from Coach. This is such a simple piece but it really stands out against the dress. Don’t be afraid to make unexpected colour combinations, you never know what fabulousness you can end up with.
I hope you enjoyed my review of this new collection and if you decide to rock some of your own, be sure to tag me, I would love to see it!
Thank you to Robert of Robert Skuja Photography for capturing the essence of this fun look.
