Happy Wednesday everyone, I hope you are doing well!
I can’t believe it but in a few days I will be able to say that I have survived another tax season. It’s always funny because it seems so long yet at the same time its hard to believe that it is May already.
I hope you are ready as I am to start to seeing spring time fashion posts. It’s been a challenge working my busy season and blogging for the first time but I hope to start to posting more frequently by June. I thank everyone for their loyalty and patience.
This look is from one of my fave brands Eloquii. They have such an amazing selection of fashion forward and classic pieces that are perfect for my professional life and for my social life. The quality of their product is impeccable and my favourite part? – they are always having a sale of some kind!
When I first saw this dress, the Tie Back Poplin Dress I have to admit I was a little underwhelmed. I mean its pretty conservative with a high neckline and short sleeves and a flared skirt and below the knee length. And I thought that it would just have a belt that you tied at the back.
But I should have known to expect better from Eloquii, after all I think they are on top of their game when it comes to bringing the unexpected to their pieces. So if you haven’t figured out by now the drama in this dress is all in the back – a completely open back with a fun tie accent.
So of course a backless dress always brings up the issue of how do you wear a bra. Because let’s be honest, there is no way I am going without one! What I like about the dress is that of course the tie is strategically placed so that it will cover your bra strap. Now that doesn’t mean you can wear a full 4 or 5 hook one but I wore my plunge bra from Torrid that only has 2 hooks and a pretty thin but supportive band.
I also liked that the tie is fully adjustable so you can tie it as tight or lose as you want to help fit your body. The dress is 97% cotton so it is a great option for warm weather and totally breathable. It has a hidden elastic waistband that has the cutest ruffled edge.
And it is in one of the hottest colours this spring – navy. It’s a nice shade, I like that it is not super dark so you still tell that it is blue and you’re not sitting there guessing if something is black or navy lol.
I am wearing the size 28 and I felt the fit was very generous. I would consider sizing down in this. I am currently in a love hate relationship with Eloquii as they work on expanding their size range and offering more and more pieces in a size 26 and 28. So while there are pieces that I am sad about when I see they don’t come in my size, I still always manage to find something I like in my size. And I 100% support the effort they are making because quite frankly many other brands can’t be bothered.
With such a neutral palette this dress could be accessorized in so many ways. I chose to glam it up with some of my signature statement making accessories. This necklace is from Gilded Official, an online jewelry page that I found on Instagram. They definitely specialize in statement pieces and I loved how the gold and shades of pale pink played against the colour of the dress.
I then added this gorgeous pale pink drop earring from Aldo Accessories and a wide gold bracelet that is an oldie but goodie from my collection.
Now to top everything off we have two very special pieces. These shoes are also from Eloquii. That’s right, if you haven’t already heard, they started carrying shoes in the fall and their spring collection is simply amazing. I was immediately drawn to these on trend flatforms because they would give me some height but offer the stability I need because I can’t wear heels. I love the combination of black with the gold heels and the way they tie at the ankle. I found the width of their shoes to be generous and if you typically wear a half size I recommend sizing down. I normally wear an 8 1/2 and I am wearing the 8 in these sandals.
Finally can we talk about this amazing oversized clutch that I got from Aldo Accessories? I am totally in love with the floral print combined with the black and white stripes. It can also be worn as a cross body. It was the perfect pop of colour against this dress.
I think this look is perfect for so many occasions I don’t know where to start!
Thank you to Robert of Robert Skuja Photography for capturing this look.
