Happy Thursday everyone, I hope you have an amazing weekend!
Well I can’t believe it but I have made it through another March which is my busiest work month of the year. With April finally upon us I am looking forward to spring and not having to wear nylons or tights!
The look featured in this post is the Delsee Dress in Dark Red by IGIGI.
Now we all know how much I love my IGIGI dresses and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint. I was immediately drawn to this dress because of the print as I love red and black. But what was different about this dress for IGIGI was the style, I felt it was really unique compared to their typical silhouettes.
This dress is a classic button down shirtdress but keeps the needs of our curves in mind. I love the look of a shirt dress for the office as an easy go to but sophisticated and timeless piece but always have struggled to find one that fits well.
They often tend to be boxy and don’t allow room for my curves and the buttons always pop open on my chest (which is why I don’t like button up shirts!). But this is made of a great breathable fabric that has some weight and texture to it without being too heavy.
I love that they took the silhouette and made sure it was still fitted and feminine with it’s button-up front, ruching at the waist, and 3/4 sleeves. The faux-button placket on the skirt completes this look and overall silhouette and is practical ladies – no button popping issues here!
I also really like the versatility of the sleeve – you can roll them up or leave them as is. I liked the look of them rolled up. And something that is important to me, the shirt collar is well made and a great size so that it sits properly and doesn’t fall flat, keeping the look clean and crisp.
This dress is perfect for the transitional weather we have been having lately and going into Spring. But it would also be perfect in the fall and winter with a pair of tights. And the colour palette works all year round. I am wearing the size 26/28 which is my normal IGIGI size and I felt the fit was great.
I styled this look with the office in mind but wanted to added a sense of luxury with accessories in rich gold tones.
I love patent leather shoes. I don’t know what it is about them but I always feel like it makes a shoe a little extra special. These are my new wedges from Simply Be USA. I like that they are not too high with a 2 1/2 inch heel and come in wide and extra wide widths. They also come in navy, purple and forest green. But the best part? – these babies are only $17.99 US!
My purse is my new rose gold Kate Spade satchel that I scored for a totally amazing deal at the outlet recently. I love the simplicity of the shape of this bag in contrast with the rich colour with just the right touch of sparkle and sheen.
I then added a black and gold statement ring from Lane Bryant and a gold bangle from Avenue. Finally I had to wear my new black and gold Louis Vuitton sunnies that were a gift from my babe.
Overall I love how this outfit is practical and would be so comfy for a long day at the office but yet is so sophisticated and chic for dinner and drinks afterwards.
Thank you to Robert of Robert Skuja Photography for these fantastic photos.
Special shout out to my boo Thera of Cloud 14+ for doing my hair and make up.
