Happy Christmas Eve everyone! I hope you have a wonderful evening enjoying time with your family and friends.
I couldn’t let the holidays go without giving you a post to celebrate.
This look is a step outside of my normal sense of style – it’s time to go all black peeps!
Ironically this is another Torrid look. I was going on a date recently and wasn’t sure what to wear and my good friend suggested I try all black. In her words we were looking for “chic with a little sexy”.
This look is all about pairing basic pieces from your wardrobe with that one statement piece that brings the look together. The statement piece for this look is this gorgeous full length tunic that has short sleeves and is trimmed with lace accents and has a beautiful button accent at the waist.
Long tunics and dusters have been a definite must have trend for 2015. When this one came out I was immediately in love with its feminine details.
I have always debated how this trend would look on me because I consider myself to be average height at 5’6 but still felt they would be too long. I mean the models are tall so they look absolutely gorgeous on them.
But since my motto is try new things these days I gave it a whirl. I am wearing the 5x. I do find that it fits a little big on top and I struggled with whether to get the 4x but since the fabric has no give and there are no slits in the sides I decided it was better to have more room in the bottom, especially if you were sitting. If you are an apple shape, I would definitely recommend sizing down.
So since I can’t really wear heels I decided to put it to the test with my new sparkly flats from Lane Bryant. Have I told you how much I love this shoes? These are a great alternative for us gals that struggle with wearing heels for special occasions.
They also come in silver. At my height, the tunic just hits the ground and I can walk with no issue. For you shorter gals, you would definitely have to get it hemmed.
I paired this with the faux leather front panel leggings also by Torrid. I like that these leggings give the look of leather but still have the comfort of a traditional legging in the back panels. I wear a 4x in Torrid leggings and find that the sizing is consistent no matter what style or colour I buy.
Underneath the tunic I am actually wearing the slip from one of my Torrid dresses. Ladies, this is a great option if you are looking for a little more length. Or if you want a basic cami will work perfectly.
I added some glam to this look with the rest of my accessories. This gold necklace with the adorable bow closure is also from Torrid but I bought it several months ago. It was the perfect style for this neckline.
I then added some gold bangles and one of my new favourite clutches, this sequined stunner also from Torrid. Ladies, the pictures of this bag online did not do it justice. But once I saw it in the store I had to have it. It is also great because it comes with a shoulder strap.
So there you have it, my take on an all black look for date night. I have to say I am pretty glad I took my friend’s advice!
Thanks to Stef of the blog Sassy Plus for capturing this look and the amazing wind factor!
