Happy Wednesday everyone! It’s hump day so hopefully a new post will give you some inspiration to get through the rest of the week.
This post features a new brand for the blog – Rebdolls. And not only Rebdolls but the brand new Garnerstyle for Rebdolls holiday collection!
So I’m not going to lie, I have a serious girl crush on Chasity Garner Valentine, the brains and beauty behind the blog GarnerStyle and co-founder of the Curvy Con. I was already in awe before I had the chance to meet her in person at the launch of the Melissa McCarthy line at Penningtons in August. But peeps, after I met her in person, it was game over. She is so genuine, friendly and nice and she had some great advice for me as a new blogger. And she is even more beautiful in person.
When her first collection for Rebdolls came out this summer, I managed to miss the announcement and by the time I got to the website, my size in EVERYTHING had sold out. Man was I disappointed as there was several pieces I had fallen in love with.
So this time I was not going to be left with an empty shopping cart. I patiently waited for the release and when the new holiday collection popped up on the screen I was certainly not disappointed. What I like about this collection is that it is not all glitz and glam. These pieces are special but can be worn everyday. I also think they are a great reflection of her personal style. She wears the clothes and you know that they represent her.
The “Wild Life” Leopard Print Skater Dress immediately caught my eye. It’s nice to see clothes on Chasity because she has the same shape as me so when she looks fabulous, I am confident I can rock them too. I liked that this dress has a cap sleeve and a high neck. It also has a really nice pleating detail at the waist and in the skirt and is my favourite midi length. The fabric is a cotton polyester blend so I found that it is a great weight and could be worn all year round. I am wearing the 5x. I probably could have sized down if I had really wanted to.
Somewhere along my Instragram travels earlier this year I had come across Rebdolls and decided to give them a try. At the time, their sizing only went to a 4x and my honest opinion was that I found the fit was small. I ordered a few pieces but nothing worked out. So when they came out with the 5x I was very happy.
Rebdolls is a great brand because it is size inclusive and carries from a small to a 5x. So if my sister who is a small and I wanted to wear the same thing, we could! There are not many retailers that can make that statement.
I also like that they don’t decide for you what a straight size versus a plus size should wear by limiting the size options, they make everything available to everyone. But I am going to give you fair warning that their styles sell out in a flash, especially the larger sizes.
Rebdolls’ focus is on trendy fashions with definite sex appeal and edge. In 2015, they adopted the slogan #SEXYFORALL and they have certainly been living up to their name. Their designs continuously represent what they are all about. And their prices are so affordable, this dress is only $46.50!
So my love of animal print has definitely been something that has been part of my style evolution this year. More and more I find myself attracted to pieces whereas before I would have said no. What am I still trying to figure out sometimes is how to style it. For this dress I decided to add a belt like Chasity but chose to keep it skinny. This one is from Torrid and I love the crystal bow.
And then the accessory magic happened. First I pulled this necklace from Torrid that has various shades of bronze and black with a touch of blush. I liked adding the hint of pink. The bracelet is from Lane Bryant and has the same mixed stones as the necklace.
And then I remembered my amazing clutch that I had picked up at Aldo this fall and it all came together. The black and white tribal like print with the stones in shades of orange and blush just popped against the dress and completed the look. My rose gold flats from LB were the final touch.
I love this dress because it is so versatile and easy. I can go out on a date like I am here or I can easily throw on a blazer and some tights and wear it to the office. It would also look really great with some pops of red.
I’m hoping I did Chasity proud with this one!
Thanks to my gal Stef of the blog SassyPlus for the amazing photos, love ya!
