Happy Saturday to my loyal readers! I hope you have an amazing day.
This post features the 4th instalment in my Holiday Look Book. I hope you are enjoying this series.
For those that know me and my shopping habits, you know that my look book just wouldn’t be complete without showcasing something fabulous from Lane Bryant. Lane Bryant is a great choice when looking for holiday attire because they offer a wide variety of choices from casual to formal.
Did you know that they now offer the likes of brands such as ABS Allen Schwartz and Adriana Papell online? Lela Rose also did a holiday collection exclusive. But if you’re not looking for something formal, they also have fun t-shirts with a little bit of sparkle, cute accessories and other festive pieces that would be great for a casual house party with friends.
Metallics are one of the top trends this holiday season and I found that LB had a great selection. I was intrigued by several pieces but ultimately I chose this sheath dress in a deep shade of gunmetal. It has just the right combination of elegance and sex appeal.
And of course it has great details such as the knot front waist which cinches you in and gives great definition, the wide twisted shoulder straps that are bra friendly and the deep V neck that allows you to flaunt what God gave you, which in my case is plenty! And if you want to show a little less? Well I was super impressed to see that this dress has a built in snap in the neckline that allows you to do so with ease.
I also liked the fact that the dress is lined and the length was just at my knee. The dress does look longer on the model but if you have any kind of booty like I do, then it will raise the hem line because of the extra room it needs. I am wearing the 28 which is my standard LB size and felt it was a true fit.
I wanted to stick to a monochromatic look so all my accessories are varying shades of metallics. First off, is this absolute stunner of a necklace from Society + . This piece was from Jessica Kane’s fall custom designed collection.
The moment I saw a picture of Jessica wearing this necklace on Instagram, I knew I had to have it. Society + not only offers great clothes but an awesome selection of jewelry and other accessories. And the prices are so affordable. This beauty was only $35! I don’t think I have to say much else because this piece speaks for itself.
So many of you know by now that I struggle with wearing heels. I have some lower back issues and wearing heels is usually pretty painful for me. So while I love the look of them, and I can shoot a blog look in them, the reality of me wearing them out for night is slim to none. That’s why I try to shoot most of my looks with the shoes I would actually wear if I am going to wear the look in real life. I want my readers to know how I deal with one of my challenges for putting outfits together. Because let’s face it, we all have them.
Probably about 65% of the year I wear sandals. I hate socks and closed in shoes and I avoid them for as long as possible. But given that I live in Canada there are a few months in the year, where sandals are just not going to do. So I generally wear flats. Having wide feet is also another challenge. Finding cute wide width flats used to be such a challenge but I have found that many retailers have come out with some great options in the last few years.
So if I am wearing metallic then you know that means I needed sparkle. And what’s more fun than a sparkly pair of pointed toe flats? I honestly can’t think of much… These cuties came in two colours, black and silver. At only $45 regular price (I got them for 1/2 price), of course I had to buy both colours! I am wearing the size 9w which is my standard LB shoe size. There is limited selection available online but I recommend checking your local store. I think these shoes are practical for me but still work with the dress.
I also added a simple rhinestone bangle from Lane Bryant. I just happened to come across this when I was in the store last weekend and it was so nice to find a hinged bangle that fit my wrist. Us plus size girls are making progress for sure! This never would have been an option for us a few years ago.
Finally I added my silver hatch patterned clutch with a bow clasp. This is an older clutch from my growing collection. My philosophy is you can never have too many options!
So now that I “shine bright like a diamond” where should I go?
Thanks Stef (aka SassyPlus ) for capturing this look.
