Happy Monday everyone, I hope you survived the start of the work week!
Today is Cyber Monday and there is a tonne of deals to be had so I thought I would get this post up a few hours earlier in case you wanted to take advantage of the deals available on this current look. This is my final look from my Lane Bryant haul.
This look is another step in my journey with print mixing. I am indeed a novice but I am trying to gain more comfort with it because every time I see the wonderful creations styled by Mo of the blog Lion Hunter and Assa of the blog My Curves and Curls I instantly fall in love. They are the masters and I greatly admire their creativity and eye.
In this case I ordered the dress and cape separately and when I had picked up my orders and had gotten everything home I thought hmmm would these two pieces work together?
The dress is a universal flattering A line fit and made out of a soft knit fabric with a on trend grey leopard print.
It also has faux leather trim and an exposed back zipper to give it a bit of edge. This dress is so easy to put on and go. I love going to the office in a dress like this.
It makes me feel powerful and ready to take on the challenges of the day. And it gets noticed. I don’t know about you but getting compliments on my outfit always does wonders for my confidence and makes my day. I am wearing the size 28. The dress is form fitting so if you wanted it to be a little more relaxed, I would size up.
I am a huge fan of the cape/poncho. In style or not, I could honestly care less, I will continue to wear them every year. They are a staple in my outer wear collection because they are light weight and versatile.
What I particularly liked about this cape is that it was grey and neutral so it would go with anything but still had the interest of the ombre hounds tooth print.
And not only is it stylish but it is also functional with a zipper and two side snaps. I am wearing the size 26/28 and I felt that it is true to size.
I think these two prints work together because it is a tone on tone look all in shades of black and grey. It also helps that the size of the prints are similar.
I hesitated to pair these 2 pieces together till the very day that I shot this look and I have to say I am so happy I decided to go for it. This honestly has to be one of my fave looks to date.
I wanted this look to feel luxurious and sophisticated so I added my nude heels, and this fabulous oversized clutch with bow accent in blush. Keeping these accents neutral allowed the pieces to shine.
I then added a statement necklace in luxurious gold with black hematite stones from Pinch Gear. If you haven’t checked them out yet, please do, their selection and pricing is amazing. This set is only $14 and is 30% off today! A chic side pony and red lip completed the look.
This looks makes me feel powerful and represents the passion and drive I have for my profession and my career.
I love my day job and leading and inspiring a team and making my clients happy make all the hard work worth while. That’s right I am a lady boss and I am proud of it! But that doesn’t mean that I have to sacrifice my femininity and sense of style to be one. Every day I defy the notion that to succeed in the corporate environment you can only wear boring clothes that are black, grey, or navy with no prints or little colour to be found. I am at my best when I feel my best and in an outfit like this I am ready to take on whatever life throws my way and let me tell you I can rock any meeting, especially when I feel this glam and put together.
So who needs an accountant? Because I’m ready…
Thank you to Stef of SassyPlus for bringing this vision to life.
So for all you followers who love a deal, you can’t miss out on this, today this dress is on sale for $19.99 and the cape is on sale for $64.98!!!!!
I sincerely hope you enjoyed this series of posts featuring my Lane Bryant haul. I’d love to hear from you, let me know which look you like best!
