Happy Friday everyone!
This next instalment of my Lane Bryant haul is something out of the box for me.
To me there are certain things when it comes to fashion that people have strong opinions about – colour and prints for example. Some people love colour, others love their all black wardrobe. Some people will think a floral print looks like their grandmother’s curtains and others like myself love them. It is what makes fashion such a great avenue for personal expression.
That is why I am a firm believer that we should wear what we love and what makes us happy. Life is too short to care about what other people think and you know what? You are never going to make everyone happy so you might as well focus on the one person that matters – you!
So I will admit I am generally not a fan of animal print and fur. But here I am wearing both. I’m not sure what it is about animal print that makes me just say no for the most part so when I saw this skirt I thought I would give it a try. And I think my dissolution with fur stems back to my childhood where I can remember the really bad fur coats that my Mom and aunts wore.
And there you have it, in my continued quest to push myself outside my comfort zone, I ordered this look. After all, animal print and fur are two must have trends this fall and I couldn’t look anywhere without seeing 100’s of different options. Now I am going to say it right here so please don’t be mad at me, but this skirt is sold out ๐
But this post is more about finding an animal print piece (or whatever pushes you outside your comfort zone) that you love and there are so many options to choose from just at LB alone, you won’t be disappointed. You may also be able to find it in your local store.
This skirt hugs your curves in all the right places and has the unique zipper detail. This allows you to open it up and show as little or as much leg as you choose.
The fabric is super soft and I like the size of the print, not to big, not too small. I am wearing the size 28 and I feel it is true to size.
I decided to pair this with a burgundy (or marsala if we are being fancy) blouse which is also a hot trend for fall. This blouse is by Penningtons and I purchased it last fall.
I like the fact that it has a curved hemline which allows for extra room at the hips when you are a pear shape like myself. You could wear it out like I am or tuck it in for a sleeker look. I love the contrast of the rich colour of this shirt against the animal print.
To pull it all together I added this cable knit cascading front sweater in a gorgeous shade of classic camel and a detachable fur collar. This piece just oozes sophistication but at the same time is warm and cozy.
I love the versatility of the detachable collar, I can wear it outside on a chilly day but then come in the office and take it off while I work. A sweater like this is classic and timeless and will never go out of style. I am wearing the size 26/28 and the fit is generous.
To accessorize this look I decided to add a little bit of glam. I chose these adorable black flats with ankle strap and sparkly bow from Torrid. I couldn’t resist these when I saw them, they were too cute. I then added my beloved Coach burgundy satchel which you have seen a few times by now.
Finally I added this sparkly necklace from Pinch Gear. It was just the right amount of bling against the fabulous fur collar.
So I have to say I felt fabulous and powerful when I shot this look. I think I might be a converted animal print and fur lover!
I hope you are enjoying this glimpse at my Lane Bryant haul and I can’t wait to show you what is next.
Thanks to my boo Thera for taking these photos.
