Happy Tuesday everyone!
Today’s post features a look that is outside of the box for me.
I tend to often go shopping solo. I guess I consider myself to be a lone wolf.
Growing up I never had friends who were plus size and so while I may have went shopping with them to help them pick out their clothes, it was never about going shopping for me or having them go in a plus size store with me.
My Mom has been the only person that I can go shopping with and while I love shopping with my Mom, there is something different about shopping with girl friends.
Since entering the plus size blogging world, one of the things I have loved the most is making new friends that are plus size too and shop at the same places I do.
Back in August when the fall look books had started to come out and pieces showed up in the store, I went shopping for the first time with a new friend who was plus size.
It was a new experience for me and I realized how much I had missed out on. It was this special person that encouraged me to try this look. All I can say is thank you!
I had seen it in Additionelle’s fall look book and I was immediately drawn to the dress. It on it’s own is a cute empire style and something I would normally gravitate to. When we saw it in store though, I wasn’t as impressed with the colour and of course for me the length was a concern.
But she convinced me to give it a try. At the time the sweater wasn’t available and I had to order the dress in my size so she doesn’t even know I ended up purchasing the whole look.
Overall, when I had all the pieces together, I fell in love. I am wearing the dress in a size 24 so I was glad that I was able to find a piece from Additionelle that fit. The length is a little shorter than I might like for every day but nothing a pair of leggings can’t fix.
And the sweater is so soft and cozy with it’s army green hue and faux leather sleeves and patch front pockets.
Adding the belt pulled it all together. I got the 4x in the sweater and belt. The belt is big, I could have sized down to the 3x.
I chose to pair this casual look with some faux suede ankle boots from Avenue,
a statement necklace from Your Big Sister’s Closet
and a little bit of luxury with my Marsala coach patent leather bag. I loved combining these pieces that are girly with the edgier outfit.
Overall, this look is fun and trendy. It’s still appropriate for a casual Friday at the office and perfect for a day of shopping with friends.
Thanks to Stef aka Sassy Plus for the amazing pictures.
