Happy Wednesday everyone!
Today’s post is a special one for several reasons. To start off with, this is my first time collaborating with another blogger.
I met Thera Warren of the incredible blog, Cloud 14+ last fall on Instagram and officially in person at BIG DEAL Toronto. Over the course of the past year we have become great friends and she is one of the key people who encouraged me to start my own blog. And while it took a little convincing to get me on board, I can’t thank her enough because it has honestly been the best thing I have done for myself in a long time.
Thera’s passion for fashion is contagious and she is one fierce stylist. She has pushed me outside of my comfort zone so much and shown me that it’s okay to take risks. She is also one of the nicest and sincere people you will ever meet. And she is a constant source of support for me throughout this crazy journey, thank you boo!
So when we thought about what we wanted to feature in this post we both immediately thought of Eloquii. We both love the brand and now that it has extended sizes up to 28 in many pieces, we thought it would be good to showcase the versatility that it has to offer. We also both appreciate a good quality garment, and Eloquii certainly delivers.
Now Thera is a lover of all things black and anyone who knows me, knows that I am a lover of all things colour! So to bring our styles together we went with black dresses and pops of rich colour in our accessories.
I am wearing the Ponte Faux Leather Mix Dress. This body con sheath dress is a perfect mix of hard and soft with the texture added from the leather strips and their perfect placement to accentuate your curves. It is a more edgy look but still totally appropriate for the office. Throw on a blazer and you are ready to kill any meeting.
This dress has a good amount of stretch and I like the fact that it is knee length and has a modest scoop neck. I am wearing the size 28 and for a body con dress, I am particularly impressed with the fit. It fits amazing and is actually quite comfortable.
I chose to pair this look with one of my favourite jewel toned statement earrings and necklace sets from local Toronto jewellery brand Symone Kelly. The combination of so many rich colours in different shape and size stones brings an additional level of sophistication to the pieces.
I did buy this a while ago but I have provided links to other great options. As always, I like to support my local small business owners, so please go and check them out.
I then added a black and white Paris print clutch that I bought at a closet sale, my go to black peep toes and something new for me, this gorgeous hat!
I have just started to venture into the realm of wearing hats. Thera and I were out shopping and we came across this one at American Apparel. I immediately fell in love with the rich dark purple colour.
Hats are a great way to add an additional element of interest to a look and it was the perfect colour to coordinate with my necklace. And they do wonders for a bad hair day!
The other reason that this is a special post to me is that Thera and I shot this look with Stefanie Augusteijn, of the blog, Sassy Plus and owner of plus size clothing boutique Sexy Plus. Stef is a self taught photographer with amazing talent. I cannot even begin to explain how helpful she has been in teaching me both in front and behind the camera.
Along with Thera, she has also been a great supporter of my blog and bloggers in the Toronto area which I greatly admire and appreciate. I love that Stef enjoys collaborating with her fellow bloggers on projects and photo shoots. We had an absolute blast working on this project together!
I’d like to end this post with a quote that Thera and I believe fits us perfectly – “You can never be overdressed or overeducated” – Oscar Wilde.
Please be sure to read Thera’s post on our Eloquii colaboration to get all the details on her look and more photos from our shoot.
A special thank you to Stef for the gorgeous pictures.
