Happy Wednesday everyone!
Look #3 in my denim look book is all about a tried and true style – the straight leg jean.
This particular pair have to be my favourite pair of jeans, hands down. The straight leg jean is a great style because it suits all body types. The leg is a classic shape that is appropriate for any situation and they elongate the leg. However, what I find most important when purchasing a pair of straight leg jeans is looking for ones that are made for your shape.
In the past few years, Penningtons has done a great job of introducing 4 key fits for their jeans: savvy, straight, slightly curvy and curvy.
The savvy fit is more of their universal fit because of the fact that they are a comfy pull on style with a high enough waist to cover any “problem” areas. The straight fit is for those who have smaller thighs but a fuller waist.
The slightly curvy fit is for those who have “moderately” fuller hips and thighs. And finally the curvy fit, my personal saving grace is for pear shaped girls like me who have “distinctly” fuller hips and thighs.
Last year they also launched their “d/c” line which stands for “Denim Without Compromise”. They offer a wide variety of styles, washes, distressed options and petite, regular and tall lengths.
I am wearing their Curvy Fit Straight Leg Superstretch jean in a dark wash. These jeans have an amazing superstretch fabric that holds it shapes but is easy to get on and off and is comfortable.
I wear a size 26 in these jeans so the fit is very generous. And at only $60 these jeans are not only stylish but affordable. Penningtons also made a concerted effort this fall to bring you more options that go up to a size 32, including these jeans.
I chose to make this look casual by pairing it with my Melissa McCarthy blush sleeveless pleated blouse and a matching coloured cropped sweater by Torrid.
It’s fun and flirty and girly, a good representation of me.
My accessories include this gorgeous necklace and hair tie from Torrid as well as my adorable cupcake cross body which is also from Torrid.
My pink flats with bows are the perfect final touch. These are from Simply Be USA. I recently discovered their excellent selection of wide width shoes and boots. These ones are not only super cute but also have excellent support which can sometimes be difficult to find with flats. And the price is very reasonable at only $39.95. As someone who struggles finding shoes, I suggest you check them out.
So are you ready for a fun afternoon out about town? I’m ready to go if you are…
Thanks to Greg for the awesome photos.
