Happy Tuesday everyone!
Look #2 in my denim look book is all about one of my go to styles – the Trouser jean.
I love this style because it combines the classic look of dress pants with denim. They are a great fit for my pear shape because they have a wide leg so they provide ample room for my thighs, the most challenging spot I have when jean shopping.
I like that they give my leg a long straight line. These ones also happen to be a “curvy fit” so while they fit my hips and thighs, they also fit my waist.
Being a busy professional, I find these are the perfect choice for the office. On a casual Friday I can throw on a blazer or nice blouse and still look polished for a client meeting. Or I can wear a simple t-shirt and sweater for a more casual look.
Trouser jeans are a definite trend for this fall but I wear them all the time, in my “style book” they are a classic.
In fact, the ones I am wearing are by Lane Bryant but from a few years ago. I loved them so much that I bought a few pairs lol, so they have lasted me. I tend to stick to a dark wash because I like the way it looks on my shape and it is always work appropriate.
I am wearing a size 28 regular and couldn’t ask for a better fit. Now not to worry, I have provided links to great trouser jeans that are available right now that look almost identical. I would never leave my loyal readers without options!
I chose to pair these jeans with this gorgeous mandarin collar blouse by Michel Studio for Additionelle. I struggle to find blouses that fit me – mainly a combination of my chest and large hips so this style is a great alternative for me with no buttons, a ruched back and a high low hem with rounded seams.
I also love the fact that it is a cap sleeve, I get enough coverage for the office but I don’t die of heat, which I normally do.
Choosing this forest colour was a departure from my normal choices but my friend encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone. I also love the braided detail at the shoulder, it’s an extra special addition that adds to the richness of the piece.
This blouse also comes in a beautiful shade of toffee and a rich charcoal. I also tucked this blouse in in the front. This is something I am getting used to. For so long, I had it engrained in my brain that I shouldn’t tuck shirts in but I have learned that I was certainly wrong!
To accessorize, I added this gold necklace from Penningtons. I love how it picks up on the richness of the green and frames the collar perfectly.
I then threw on a few bangles, added my new favourite go to flats and a cute contrasting green clutch for an added colour pop.
Overall, I feel this is a put together look that is both business meeting and happy hour worthy.
Thanks to Greg for the amazing photos.
