Today’s post is the second in a 3 part series highlighting my recent visit to a local boutique, SexyPlus Clothing located in Mississauga Ontario.
As I mentioned in my previous post, the store is known for its formal wear and cocktail dresses. However, Stefanie decided to expand her offering this year by adding an affordable casual collection. The price point is amazing with all pieces ranging between $29 and $69.
It also has a lot of variety with tops, sweaters, dresses, skirts, vests etc. Overall it is a collection of great basic separates that any woman needs in her wardrobe. Her major partner in this new offering is Point Zero and their “Curvy” collection.
I’m going to be honest here, when I saw Stefanie first advertise this collection and that it went up to size 3x, my immediate reaction was that nothing was going to fit me. I find that a challenge boutique owners face is trying to find suppliers that offer a woman’s plus fit and not a junior plus fit. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with offering both, but often junior plus lines limit your customer to those who are size 20 or smaller. But Stefanie assured me that they were a generous fit so I gave it a whirl.
So I will admit defeat and say she was right! I was pleasantly surprised with the generous fit of this brand and that I could wear a 3x in most of the tops. The fabrics are a great quality for the price point and I find that everything has nice details like the lace back on this top.
Now for the details. This second look that I am highlighting is this fun Hanky Hem Short Sleeve Lace Detail top by Point Zero Curvy and a great pair of leggings. I am wearing a 3x in the top and a 4x in the leggings.
Now the funny thing about these leggings is that again Stefanie was able to break through one of my automatic assumptions – that they wouldn’t have any bottoms that would fit me. I tried on the top with the shorts I had on that day and when I came out the of the dressing room I said I wished I had brought leggings with me to try with this. She immediately pulled out this amazing pair that were made of quality material and fit great. Unfortunately the manufacturer stopped making these but there are certain sizes still available in store. Needless to say, these went home with me!
I don’t wear a lot of casual outfits for a couple of reasons – mainly my career requires a certain level of dress and secondly, I am a girly girl! I like wearing dresses and skirts. But I do love a good casual look especially when I am running errands or power shopping. For me this fits the bill.
And when I’m on the go and casual, it’s usually a no fuss look with my hair back and limited make up. Because you all know that power shopping is serious work and it gets hot and sweaty real fast! I swear, every change room should have their own fan!
This look definitely pushed me outside of my comfort zone. I never imagined feeling comfortable enough to wear a pair of leggings with a shirt this short.
I would automatically feel that it needed to be longer, that it needed to cover more. But I realized that nobody cared but me. And you know what I think my booty looks good!
My accessories are once again from SexyPlus. This necklace and bracelet are two more great examples of their new interchangeable disc line where you can change the disc on your necklace, bracelet or ring to coordinate with your outfit. Here I decided to choose the cameo disc against the large silver heart to bring something different to this casual look and this subdued yellow one on the bracelet.
My sunglasses are my own – one of my favourite pairs from Coach. And my sandals are my best sandal purchase of the summer, I am so in love with these, I wear them all the time.
This amazing shirt is on sale for $33 during SexyPlus Clothing’s summer clearance sale on now.
Who wants to come shopping with me?
A special thank you to Stefanie for her beautiful photography.
